Emphasizes the comforting constancy of God's unchanging nature, providing stability, steadfastness, and strength amidst life's uncertainties and challenges.

Introduction

Warm greetings, beloved. It is indeed a blessing to gather in God's name, to share His word, and to find comfort, guidance, and wisdom in His holy scripture. Today, we turn our hearts and minds to the Book of Malachi, to the third chapter, and the sixth verse. A verse that serves as a beacon of hope, a testament to the unchanging nature of our God. It reads, "For I, the Lord, do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed." What a profound assurance, isn't it? In a world that is constantly shifting, where uncertainty seems to be the only certainty, we find solace in the fact that our God is unchanging. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His sovereignty remains unshaken, His truth unwavering, and His love for us unfaltering.

Stability in the Sovereignty of God

In the midst of life's turmoil, we often find ourselves yearning for something solid, something unshakeable to hold on to. We long for a rock to anchor us when the storms of life threaten to sweep us away. This longing, this yearning, is not in vain. It is a cry of the soul for the stability that can only be found in the sovereignty of God.

God's sovereignty: It’s a truth that has been proclaimed throughout the scriptures. It is a truth that speaks of His supreme authority, His ultimate power, and His absolute rule. God is the King of kings, the Lord of lords, and the Ruler of all creation. He is in control of everything and nothing happens outside of His will. This is a truth that provides us with a sense of stability in an unstable world.

The certainty of God's rule: God is not a ruler who is swayed by the whims of His subjects. He is not a king who is threatened by rebellion or usurpation. He is the Almighty, the All-Powerful, the One who holds all things in His hands. His rule is certain, His reign is secure, and His authority is unquestionable. This certainty gives us a sense of stability. We can rest in the knowledge that our God is in control, that He is ruling and reigning, and that His will is being accomplished.

The consistency of God's character: God is not a capricious deity who changes His mind or alters His character based on His mood. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His love is steadfast, His mercy is enduring, and His grace is unending. This consistency gives us a sense of stability. We can trust in the character of our God, knowing that He is good, that He is loving, and that He is merciful.

The completeness of God's knowledge: God is not a being who is limited by time or space. He is omniscient, knowing all things past, present, and future. He knows the end from the beginning and He knows us better than we know ourselves. This completeness gives us a sense of stability. We can have confidence in the wisdom of our God, knowing that He sees all things, that He understands all things, and that He is working all things for our good.

The constancy of God's presence: God is not a distant deity who is removed from His creation. He is Emmanuel, God with us. He is present in every moment, in every situation, and in every circumstance. This constancy gives us a sense of stability. We can find comfort in the presence of our God, knowing that He is with us, that He is for us, and that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

Each of these aspects: We find a sense of stability. We find a rock to hold on to, a foundation to build upon, and an anchor for our souls. This is the stability that is found in the sovereignty of God. It is a stability that is not dependent on our circumstances, our feelings, or our understanding. It is a stability that is rooted in the unchanging nature of our unchanging God.

Steadfastness of God's Truth

As we continue to reflect on the words of Malachi 3:6, we find ourselves drawn to the steadfastness of God's truth ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
