Summary: As we are spiritually transformed by God’s Holy Spirit (Romans 12:1-2) we will show the evidence. Romans 12:9-21 shows that we will imitate Christ in our Character.
IMITATE CHRIST IN YOUR CHARACTER
Romans 12:9-21
I. Live in Love (9-11)
A. Not an Act – Love is a Fruit of the Spirit (vs. 9a)
B. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 = “Love is…” not evil
C. “Family” affection, “Brotherly” love
1. Bonding Love
2. “I give you a new commandment: love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another.” John 13:34 (HCSB)
D. Demonstrate this love – vs. 10b
1. Love & brag on one another
2. Encourage one another
E. Don’t quit! – vs. 11
1. Love is not what we do, it is who we are!
2. “Live in Love”
II. Help the Hurting (12-13)
Verses 12 & 13 are connected
A. Share with saints in their needs – persistent in prayer
1. In good times – “rejoice in hope”
2. In bad times – “patient in affliction”
B. “Chase after” hospitality
III. Forsake Fighting (14-20)
A. Humble spirit (14)
B. Servant’s spirit (15)
C. Agreeable spirit (16)
D. Honorable spirit (17-20)
Verse 21: Summation
