Summary: When one does not believe scripture.
If There is no Hell
Luke 12:19-31
I. Then Jesus was a misguided soul.
1. For He taught that Hell is a place, a place of outer darkness where there is weeping, wailing and nashing of teeth.
2. For He taught that Hell is a place where the fire is not quenched and the worm never dies.
3. For He taught that Hell is a place, a place where men are tormented both by flames and memories,
If there is no Hell then one could rightly conclude that, that sweat little Jesus boy grew up into manhood as a lunatic and a liar and society was well served when they nailed Him to a Cross.
II. Then the Bible is a book of fables.
1. However, all scripture is given by inspiration of God.
2. However, Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
3. However, the Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword.
If there is no Hell then one could rightly conclude the writers of the Bible were gifted but deceived men who also saught to deceive others. They are only to be pitied.
IF THERE IS NO HELL
III. The “The Blood” is useless and uneventful.
1. But the Bible says “It is the Blood that maketh an Atonement for the Soul.
2. But the Bible says, without the shedding of Blood there is no remission.
3. But the Bible says ‘That we are redeemed with the precious Blood of Christ.
If there is no Hell then one could rightly conclude it is foolish to talk about the Blood saving power since there is nothing to be saved from.
IV. Then sin is nothing but a joke.
1. However, fools make a mock of sin.
2. However, sin when it is finished bringeth forth death.
3. However, sin has separated us from God.
If there is no Hell then one could rightly conclude sin is a pleasure to be enjoyed by all for a season yea for a lifetime, and Moses was a fool to choose the suffering of affliction with the people of God rather than enjoying the pleasures of sin for a season. Heb 11:25-26
IF THERE IS NO HELL
V. Then the Cross has no significance.
1. However, the preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness but unto us who are saved it is the power of God unto salvation.
2. However the Bible declares that we have nothing to glory in except the Cross. Gal. 6:14
3. However Christ bare our sins in His own body on the Cross. 1 Peter 2:24.
If there is no Hell then one could rightly conclude that the Cross is a symbol of deception along with all the nativity scenes and Christian emblems.
VI. Then Death is to be regarded as a friend and not an enemy. Note: 1 Cor 15:26,
1. However, death brings sorrow and grief.
2. However, death brings suffering and loneliness.
3. However, death often brings discord and strife.
If there is no Hell then one can rightly conclude that death is a friend that removes us from all anxiety, suffering, pain and strife.
IF THERE IS NO HELL
VII. Then Judgment is but a bad dream in the night.
1. However, it is appointed unto men once to die and after this the Judgment. Heb 9:17
2. However, all the saved shall appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ. II Cor 5:10
3. However, all the lost shall appear before the Great White Throne Judgment. Rev 20:11-12.
If there is no Hell then one can rightly conclude that Judgment is nothing but a fear tactic of some wild eyed, money grabbing preachers.
CONCLUSION: God is not willing that any should perish but that all would come to repentance. II Peter 3:9 Jesus said, except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish, Luke 13:3. All who reject Christ shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His Power. II Thes 1:7-9
The cry of the prophet of old was ‘turn ye, turn ye, why will ye die.’ Behold now is the acceptable time-today is the day of Salvation
