Summary: As popular as Tarot readings and horoscopes are they must not replace God in our lives.
"Idol" Threats
2 Kings 1:1-18
I. Introduction
Many today don’t take the dangers of the daily horoscope, Tarot readings, and the like seriously. But we should because these "idols" threaten our relationship with God.
II. Idolatry denies the Presence of God in our lives. (v. 3)
By seeking after Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, King Ahaziah was denying the God of Israel.
III. Idolatry denies the Power of God in our lives. (v. 4)
God not only has the power to see the future, He has the power to shape the future.
IV. Idolatry denies the Purpose of God for our lives. (v. 8)
That Ahaziah despised Elijah is apparent. Paul said, "He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man but God..." (1 Thess. 4:8).
V. Conclusion
The simple truth is that by following the horoscopes or the palm readers or the card readers we are seeking false gods just as Ahaziah did.
