Here we are in a familiar portion of scripture; the children of Israel are still enslaved by Egypt. A new King is set forth in Egypt by the name of Pharaoh, and I need to tell you that Pharaoh does not know Joseph, because Joseph had expired or died some 144 years before Israel left Egypt, or 64 years before Moses was even born.
So, in our text we see that one of things that the new king notices is the large number of Israelites that they have enslaved. The first thing on the new king’s agenda is to deal with them, he wanted to show them who was in charge, he wanted to show them who was the boss and how he can crack the whip to keep them in line.
You see the king is fearful that the children of Israel will grow to the point that they will fight against them to gain their freedom. And may I tell you this morning that their people in this world that have been in position for a great amount of time will always fight to make sure that their position is secured.
So what he did was, he gathers all of the task masters, and what he think he has is a brilliant plan, he said that he will make the children of Israel work harder than they have ever worked before. What he was trying to do was to break their focus of who they were and what their position of their assignment was. And I need to tell you this morning is that if the devil can get you out of focus, derail your attention, and divide your thoughts, then he knows that he can throw you off course.
The King’s thinking behind his plan is to make them so busy, they have no home life, no social life, and therefore no more babies are being born.
He worked them so hard that they build King Pharaoh two big cities. He worked their fingers to the bone to try to distract them for what they were assigned to do, but the Kings plan back fired on him.
The bible says, verse 12 that the more that they worked them, the more they grew.
My brothers and sisters we have to understand that the enemy will puts countless diverse problems, glitches, malfunctions, and obstacles in our lives to derail us, disrupt us, distraught, dismayed, saddened, offended, and disturbed us, and when he does he makes it easy for us to lose our spiritual growth by being too busy in this life of work, running here and there, fussing and fighting and not focusing on what God has assigned us to do. We miss out on giving God the attention that he deserves, and ministering to those who are going
through.
We live in a society today, when the church services should be growing and increasing, we are living in a time when lives ought to be changed. We are living in a time when preachers and pastor ought to be holding one another up. We are living in a time when Christians ought to be praying for one another instead of preying one another. In these days when Covid, and other variants are killing people all around us, we ought to be on bending knee’s and not be distracted by satan and all of his little imp’s. We should be a mighty nation of spiritual people, because we are a country that was founded on the true gospel of Jesus Christ, but we have become a nation of people with various cults, and false doctrines.
We need to grow from the obstacles, just like the Children of Israel. We need to set our sights on the things of God and not of men, and tell the devil, devil you can’t have my blessings.
So this leads us to the next Idea that the King had, he planned to have the Mid Wives kill the male babies of the children of Israel after their birth, the bible says that the Mid wives fear God, and didn’t do as the king said, and King Pharaoh see’s the male babies are still alive, and being born, so he called in the mid wives and asks them why are the male babies still living?
I love the answer the mid wives gave the king, they said in
verse 19, For the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women, for they are Lively. The Hebrew women knew that a blessing was coming to them in the form of a baby, and their precious child would not die, even if they died giving birth without a mid-wives present.
The Kingdom of God will not die, that’s why Jesus told Simon in Matthew 16:18 upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.
