Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Encourage believers to establish a lifestyle of praising God in all circumstances, both good and bad, as a daily habit.
Good morning, Church family. Today we're going to be diving into a topic that is close to the heart of every believer. That is, praising God in all circumstances, whether they are good or bad. This is not an occasional act, but it's about establishing a lifestyle of praise.
Our key scripture today is from Psalm 34:1-3, where David declares,
"I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul will make its boast in the Lord; The humble will hear it and rejoice. O magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together."
This may sound challenging, especially when you're going through a rough patch, but I'm reminded of something Wesley L. Duewel once said, "Faith comes through God's Word and through praise. Faith grows as you praise the Lord."
Let us pray.
Dear Lord, as we delve into Your word this morning, I pray that our hearts will be open to fully understand Your desire for us to praise You in all circumstances. Help us to see the beauty and benefits of a life of praise and to integrate it into our daily habits. We thank You for Your infinite love and grace. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
So, let's get started, shall we?
Praising God in good times is often easy. When life is going well, when our health is robust, our relationships are thriving, and our finances are stable, it's easy to lift our hands in praise and thanksgiving. We feel blessed, loved, and favored. We see God's hand in our lives, and it's natural to want to express our gratitude. It's like standing on a mountain top, looking out at a beautiful vista, and feeling a sense of awe and wonder. We feel close to God, and our hearts overflow with praise.
Praising God in bad times: This can be a lot more challenging. When we're in the valley of despair, when we're facing health issues, financial struggles, or relationship problems, it can be hard to find the strength or the desire to praise God. We may feel abandoned, forgotten, or even punished. We may question God's love, His goodness, or His fairness. It's like being in a dark tunnel, unable to see the light at the end, and feeling lost and alone.
