Summary: This is #2 in a five part series on the 5 "No’s or excuses" of Moses.
Moses, Moses
Part II
¡§I Will Be With You¡¨
Exodus 3:12
Introduction:
On July 27th, I shared my vision for North Thurston Life Center. I spoke about Moses and the burning bush. And many of you were touched by the awesome power of God¡¦s Holy Spirit.
I spoke about the vision God has given me of a ministry of people helping each other ¡§Hand to hand¡¨ in their Christian walk as we all strive to achieve a likeness of Christ.
There were four promises that God made to Moses. One for each of Moses¡¦ denials to do what God had asked him to do.
„« The promise of HIS PRESENCE
Exodus 3:12, And God said, ¡§I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.¡¨
„« The promise of HIS MANIFESTATIONS (Exodus 4:2-9)
„« The promise of HIS ENABLEMENT (Exodus 4:11,12)
„« The promise of HIS DIRECTION AND INSTRUCTION (Exodus 4:14-16)
Over the next four weeks we are going to look at the four promises God gave to Moses and how it is going to relate to what God wants to do here at North Thurston Life Center!
Today we are going to begin with ¡§HIS PRESENCE¡¨ and why it was very important for Moses and equally important for us as we go about doing the work of Jesus.
We must begin with an understanding of the importance of His presence.
When Moses said,
¡§Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?¡¨ (Exodus 3:11).
God did not say to Moses:
„« ¡§I will feed you.¡¨
„« ¡§I will clothe you.¡¨
„« ¡§I will watch out for you.¡¨
The most important thing that God wanted Moses to know is that he wasn¡¦t going alone. That God almighty, El Shaddi, the holy God of creation was going to be with him.
As much as God was with Moses at the burning bush He is with us now saying
„« ¡§go to your friends¡¨
„« ¡§go to your loved ones¡¨
„« ¡§go to the hurting and the powerless¡¨
And give them My Son who was sacrificed for them so they can have hope, peace and joy.
I. His Presence Gives Us Rest
The LORD replied, ¡§My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.¡¨
Exodus 33:14
„« If you are worried
„« If you are worn out
„« If you are filled with anxiety
Then seek the ¡§His presence.¡¨
II. His Presence Gives Courage In Life¡¦s Battles
When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you.
Deuteronomy 20:1
„« Temptations
„« Jobs
„« Our Homes
May there be peace within your wall(s)¡K¡K¡K
Psalm 122:7
III. His Presence Gives Comfort In Trials
But now, this is what the LORD says he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you¡K¡K.¡§Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. 2When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. 3For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
Isaiah 43:2, 3
„« Maturity
„« Discipline
Because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.
Hebrews 12:6
„« Persecution for His cause
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
IV. His Presence Is Assured Until The End
And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Matthew 28:20
Conclusion:
Then Haggai, the LORD¡¦S messenger, gave this message of the LORD to the people: ¡§I am with you,¡¨ declares the LORD.
