Introduction: Jesus asked this blind man what do you want me to do for you? And the blind man said, “Lord, I want to see.”
Doesn’t that sound kind of funny to you? That Jesus would ask this guy, “What do you want Me to do for you?” I mean don’t you think Jesus already knew what this guy wanted? I mean with everything this dude had in him, that the greatest thing, in his whole heart, was that he wanted to see! And yet, here’s Jesus asking him, “What do you want me to do for you?”
Every day we should be first praying: “Lord, I want to see today. I want to see You today; in my work, and I want to join You in that work. Whatever You want from me today, God, I want to do that so You receive all the glory – whatever You want me to do – I’ll do that.
God, I want to see You in my struggles; I want to see You in my pain; I want to see You in my sickness; I want to see You in the beauty of my day; I want to see You in the people I come into contact with; I want to see You in my life today. I want to see, Lord!
Romans 8:25-28, “So because our hope is set on what is yet to be seen, we patiently keep on waiting for its fulfillment..) 26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
I. If You’re Blind – It’s Impossible To See.
A. If you’re blind you’re living in darkness. There are a lot of so-
called believers today living in blindness. It’s the blind
leading the blind (expound).
B. They have no clarity. They have no or very little faith.
1. It they have no faith – they have no trust.
2. Without clarity, faith, and trust, they have no victory
(expound).
C. To live blind is to live in bondage and darkness to other
things (expound).
1. You ever meet any bound up – shriveled up – no go
Believers?
a. They’re the ones that are always complaining; always
down in the dumps, always blaming other things but
never themselves.
D. Most of these types of believers want to be able to see but
they’re never willing to make the effort to see.
II. The Effort Is This: I Want To See!
A. The first step in seeing is believing. The people told this guy
to shut up – stop shouting – stop pleading. But you know
what he did? He shouted louder and louder and louder. He
was rasin’ a Hallelujah!
B. If you want to see, sometimes you have to shout it out
(expound).
III. In Order To See, Sometimes You Have Wait.
A. Do you want to know God’s plan for your life and you don’t?
Wait! Do you need a healing, a deliverance, some kind of
answer to your prayers but nothings happening?
1. If it doesn’t happen “now” - - - - you’ve got to - - - wait!
Psalm 27:14 (NLT), “Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave
and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD.”
Isaiah 40:31, “But those who trust in the LORD will find new
strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will
run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”
B. To wait on the Lord means to trust him completely with your
life and to serve him faithfully. We are to wait patiently for his
promises and purposes to be fulfilled.
C. Those who hope in the Lord are promised:
1) God’s strength to revive and refresh them when they feel
exhausted from suffering and difficulty;
2) the ability to rise above their difficulties like an eagle that
soars into the sky; and
3) the ability to run spiritually without tiring and to make
