Preach "The King Has Come" 3-Part Series this week!
Preach Christmas week
This sermon encourages believers to endure life's trials with faith, knowing that salvation is assured through Christ, and to emerge as survivors, not victims.
Good morning, beloved congregation. Today, we come together, not as individuals, but as a family, bound by our shared faith and love for our Lord. We gather here, not just to worship, but to find solace, strength, and wisdom in the teachings of our Savior. The world outside may be filled with trials and tribulations, tempests that threaten to toss us aside like leaves in a windstorm. But we are not leaves; we are the children of the Almighty, and we have been promised a safe harbor in His grace.
Charles Spurgeon, the Prince of Preachers, once said, "I have learned to kiss the wave that throws me against the Rock of Ages." Isn't that beautiful? Even in our struggles, we find ourselves drawn closer to God, our Rock, our Fortress, our Deliverer.
Today's sermon is centered around a powerful verse from the book of Joel. Joel 2:32 says, "And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the Lord has promised, among the survivors whom the Lord calls."
In this passage, we find three key points that we will be focusing on today: Surviving the Storms, Salvation through Redemption, and Stepping into Survivorship. Surviving the Storms reminds us that, though we may be battered and bruised by the winds of adversity, we are never broken. Salvation through Redemption assures us that our deliverance is not earned by our deeds, but freely given through Christ's sacrifice. And Stepping into Survivorship is our call to rise from our trials, not as victims, but as victors, triumphant in Christ's love.
Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we thank You for this day, for the opportunity to gather in Your name and learn from Your Word. We ask that You open our hearts and minds to Your teachings. Guide us, Lord, as we navigate the storms of life, secure in the knowledge that our salvation lies in You. Help us to step into survivorship, to rise above our trials, and to shine Your light in this world. In Jesus' name, we pray, amen.
So, dear friends, let us begin. Let us take these words of wisdom, these promises of salvation, and let them guide us as we weather our storms, secure in the knowledge that our deliverance is at hand, and that we are, indeed, survivors.
Life can often feel like a tempest, a storm that rages around us, threatening to pull us under with its powerful currents. We all face these storms, these trials and tribulations that test our faith and our resolve. They can come in many forms - loss, illness, financial hardship, or even a crisis of faith. But no matter the nature of the storm, we are not left to face it alone.
In the midst of these storms, it's easy to feel overwhelmed, to feel like we're being tossed about by forces beyond our control. But we must remember that we are not helpless. We have been given a lifeline, a beacon of hope in the darkness. That lifeline is our faith, our belief in the Lord and His promise of salvation. When we call on the name of the Lord, we are acknowledging our need for Him, our reliance on His strength and His mercy. We are admitting that we cannot weather these storms on our own.
This is actually a sign of strength! It takes courage to admit that we need help, to reach out and grasp the lifeline that is offered to us. And when we do, we find that we are not simply surviving the storm, but thriving in it. We are growing, learning, becoming stronger and more resilient. The storms of life are not meant to break us, but to build us. They are not punishments, but opportunities for growth.
Next, remember that we are not alone in our trials. The Lord is with us, guiding us, protecting us, strengthening us. He is our refuge and our strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Each storm we weather brings us closer to the Lord, deepens our faith, and strengthens our resolve.
When the storms of life rage around us, let us not lose heart. Let us not be overwhelmed by the waves, but let us look to the Lord, our Rock and our Redeemer. Let us call on His name, and find in Him our salvation, our deliverance, our peace. Remember the promise of Joel 2:32 - "And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." This is our hope, our assurance, our lifeline in the storm. This is the promise that sustains us, that gives us the strength to endure, to persevere, to survive.
And as we survive, as we weather the storm, let us not forget to give thanks. Let us not forget to praise the Lord for His mercy, His grace, His deliverance. For it is through these storms, through these trials and tribulations, that we are drawn closer to Him, that we are shaped and molded into the people He wants us to be.
Transition. Face the storms of life with courage, with faith, with hope. Let us call on the name of the Lord, and find in Him our salvation, our deliverance, our peace. And let us remember that we are not just surviving the storm, but thriving in it, growing in faith and in strength, becoming the people the Lord wants us to be.
