I Still Believe

Jeremiah 6:14-19

Key verse is #16 ‘the old paths’ ‘the good way’. How we need to get back to these ways.

Introduction:

I Still Believe in the Virgin Birth

In Isaiah 9:6 we find this passage

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

In Matthew 1:18-23 we read

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

**Look at what this text says.”She shall bring forth a Son”

~The phrase “bring forth” means to make known of, or to reveal.

~When we look in Luke 1 speaking of Zacharias and Elizabeth, it says “she shall bare a son” which means to give birth to

**One Son is revealing the way to heaven, the other son is pointing to that way.

Matthew 1:21 notates the word “HE”. The statement is emphatically, that “HE” will save, “HE” personally will do this. Not an angle, not Moses, not Aaron, not Paul, not John, not Peter, or anyone else, But Jesus Christ.

~I’m glad that the Bible says that the Lord Himself will descend with a shout. Aren’t you glad He is coming, no one will have to tell me He is here I will know him when I see Him

I Still Believe the Church has a Cause

I Samuel 17:29. David said, what have I now done? Is there not a cause?

**As Long as the Lord has not returned, and there are still lost people going to hell, my friend we still have a cause. People need to hear the Good News, and they need to hear it from you!

**This need for the church to preach the Gospel is paramount, people are lost.

Matthew 18:11 says…

For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

Luke 19:10 says…

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Mark 2:17 says…

When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Romans 10:13 says…

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

~There is still a cause for us to gather.

~There is still a reason for us to sing a song.

~There is still a reason for us to shout the victory.

~There is still a reason for us to preach the Gospel.

**There is a cause, the cause is clearly, there are lost people out there that need to be in here.

I Still Believe in a place called Hell

Spurgeon said,

It is shocking to reflect that a change in the weather has more effect on some men’s lives than the dread alternative of heaven or hell.

~How concerned are we about this matter, are we willing to tell someone about Jesus?

Revelation 21:8 says…

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

~There are no friends there….~There is no love there….~There is no hope there.

~There is no God there………~There are no exits there.

>There will be the greatest prayer meeting going on in Hell….>There will be repentance in Hell….>There will weeping and gnashing of teeth in Hell….>It will not be a party.

**The Bible calls Hell

A place of Torment…Luke 16:23.

A place of Everlasting Punishment…Matthew 25:46.

A place of Everlasting Fire…Matthew 25:41.

A place of Unquenchable Fire…Matthew 3:12.

A place of Eternity…Revelation 20:10.

~73 times Hell is mentioned as the future home of the wicked.
