“I’ll Give You Something To Cry About”
Proverbs 29:16-18 (KJV) / Romans 8:18-19 (NIV) / John 11:32-35 (KJV)
I) Introduction
a) The whole world is waiting for the men of
God to stand up and take their places in society and
the Kingdom, to lead the people to God, clarify the
vision, and sustain the people. To do this they
will have to develop a passion for the state of the
people.
b) I’ll give you something to cry about (the
origins)
c) The turnaround will come from the tears,
the vision and the revealing.
II) The Tears (John 11:32-35 NIV)
a) Why is it men don’t cry?
1) Attributed with femininity; There
is a chemical released when a person cries
that relaxes them, and makes them somewhat
weaker. So men were told not to cry for
that reason. Over time then only
women were crying, so it became a female things.
2) Men have become numb; crying requires feeling,
and today’s man has cut off their ability to
connect to many things with their feelings b/c of
a fear of getting hurt. Somewhere along the line
in the whole men aren’t suppose to cry
men began to hear men aren’t suppose to feel.
3) The lack of suitable examples; there has been a
lack of balanced men who aren’t afraid to cry or
feel in position to pass that trait/personality
down to their sons.
b) Jesus (the epitome of masculinity)
1) Never had to fight
2) His mere presence could cause a shift in the
atmosphere
3) He turned water into wine
4) Walked on water
c) Story Chronology
1) They waited for Jesus to come and save Lazurus
(God had to set up the miracle)
2) (Vs. 33) “He groaned in the spirit, and was
troubled.”
3) Crying for his death would have been carnal
4) Crying for the bereaved was spiritual
5) Mary says, “You could have saved him.”---“Jesus
wept.” (B/C of the lack of vision)
d) God is calling for the lack of vision among the
people to move his men’s spirits into doing
something. (Don’t cry b/c…Cry b/c)
III) The Vision (Proverbs 29:18a KJV)
a) Why is vision so important
1) It enables the people to see their destiny, which in
turn causes them to do something about it.
2) W/O vision they can’t grow, b/c they don’t know
which way to go, or that it’s even possible.
3) Vision offers a goal, which provides order and
hope, which fosters strength and achievement
IV) The Revealing (Romans 8:18-19 NIV)
a) Why are the people waiting?
1) they need revival (a part of them is dead)
2) They need joy (they’re mourning constantly)
Proverbs 29:2
3) They need leaders who hear from God to show
them how to bring the vision to pass
b) who are the Sons of God? Men of God who
will;
1) show compassion for the state of
the people
2) restore the Lord’s vision to the
people
3) lead the people out of darkness
into destiny
c) How will the sons reveal themselves?
1) Holy living
2) Tithing
3) Prayer
4) Responsible living (Church /
Home / Work)
5) Dependability (Church / Home /
Work)
d) 4 P’s of revealing yourself
1) Be Present (in order to lead)
2) Be Patient (in order to endure)
3) Be Prayerful (to get your
instructions)
4) Be prepared (for God to move)
V) Are you ready to be heirs? (Romans 8:17
a) You had to suffer to survive
b) You have the power of Christ on the inside
