I KNOW YOU’RE THERE

INTRO: JESUS IS BAPTIZED

1: MATT 3:16-17

A) THE BAPTISM

B) IT’S A VICTORIOUS THING FOR A MAN OR WOMAN

C) CHRIST WAS BAPTIZED TO SHOW HIS OBEDIENCE AND HUMILITY TO THE FATHER

D) HEAVEN WAS OPENED, THE SPIRIT OF GOD DESCENED UPON HIM, A DOVE A LIGHT WAS UPON HIM

POINT: THIS WAS A GLORIOUS MOMENT, JUST LIKE TODAY IN OUR TIME WHEN NEW BELIEVERS IN CHRIST IDENTIFY WITH HIM IN WATER BAPTISM. IT’S A VICTORY A SHOWING OF OVERCOMING THE PAST AND SINS BEFORE THEIR CONVERSION. IT’S A VICTORIOUS TIME.

2: WHY DO YOU THINK THE TEMPTATION OF CHRIST CAME AFTER HIS BAPTISM?

A) THINK OF YOUR LIFE

B) WHEN YOU HAVE A VICTORY

C) A BREAKTHROUGH

D) AN EXPERIENCE OR OPPORTUNITY

E) WHEN YOU FEEL AS IF EVERYTHING IS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE

POINT: THE DEVIL ALWAYS SEEKS TO TEMPT AND DESTROY WHEN YOU ARE VICTORIOUS. WHY? HE WANTS TO TAKE FROM YOU THE GLORY AND JOY GOD HAS PLACED UPON YOU. HE WANTS YOU TO DOUBT THE LORD. HE WANTS YOU TO THINK HIS PROMISES AND PROVISION IS SHORT PLANNED AND NOT SUFFICENT. HE TEMPTS YOU WITH THINGS. IT ALMOST ALWAYS COMES AFTER A VICTORY.

3: JESUS FASTING 40 DAYS AND NIGHTS

A) THE BIBLE SAYS HE WAS HUNGRY

B) HE WAS TIRED AND WEAK PHYSICALLY

C) IN THE WILDERNESS FASTING

POINT: JESUS WENT INTO THE WILDERNESS TO FAST. WHY? HE WENT TO FACE THE DEVIL THAT’S WHY. THINK BACK TO GENESIS WHEN THE FIRST ADAM WAS TEMPTED AND FAILED AND WAS CAST OUT OF THE GARDEN INTO THE WILDERNESS. JESUS WENT TO GET US OUT OF THE WILDERNESS. TO PROVE ONCE AND FOR ALL WHO HAD THE AUHTORITY AND POWER.

QUESTION: YOU EVER BEEN LOST IN THE WILDERNESS?

WE ALL HAVE, SOME STILL ARE, AND WE ALL TAKE DETOURS OFF THE STRAIGHT AND NARROW THROUGH THE WILDERNESS FROM TIME TO TIME. ISN’T IT NICE TO KNOW JESUS AIN’T SCARED TO GO IN THE WILDERNESS AFTER US!!!

BODY: TEMPTATION OF CHRIST

1: THE DEVIL HASN’T CHANGED MUCH

A) HE TEMPTS US IN THE SAME WAYS

B) HE ATTACKS OUR WEAKNESS

C) IN TIMES WHEN WE ARE VULNERABLE

D) JESUS WAS HUNGRY AND TIRED

POINT: GONG BACK TO VICTORIOUS TIMES, WE ARE MORE VULNERABLE THEN BECAUSE WE DON’T SEEM TO ACKNOWLEDGE GOD IN THOSE TIMES. WHEN TIMES GET BAD WE PRAY, WHEN WE ARE AFRAID WE CRY TO THE LORD. THE DEVIL KNOWS THESE THINGS.

2: FIRST TEMPTATION

A) SATAN WANTS YOU TO DOUBT GOD

B) HE WANTS YOU TO BELIEVE THAT GOD AND HIS PLAN AREN’T SUFFICENT FOR YOU

C) THE DEVIL WILL TEMPT YOU TO RUN OUT ON GOD BECAUSE YOU THINK HE ISN’T TAKING CARE OF YOU LIKE YOU THINK HE SHOULD.

POINT: JESUS WAS HUNGRY, HE HAD NOT EATEN OR DRANK IN 40 DAYS AND NIGHTS. FIRST THING THE DEVIL DOES IS TEMPT HIM WITH A TAKE OUT ORDER. MAKE THE STONES INTO BREAD, HE WANTED JESUS IN HIS WEAKNED STATE TO DOUBT GOD AND TO TAKE MATTERS INTO HIS OWN HANDS. 40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS IS A LONG TIME FOR SOMEONE TO GO WITHOUT ANYTHING TO EAT. YOU SURE JESUS, SEEMS LIKE GOD IS TRYING TO STARVE YOU TO DEATH.

3: THE RESPONSE

A) JESUS ANSWERS THE DEVIL WITH SCRIPTURE

B) DEUT 8:3 EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD

C) HERE IS THE LIVING WORD, OUR LORD AND SAVIOR REBUKING THE DEVIL WITH THE WRITTEN WORD.

POINT: WE EMPHASIZE DAILY BIBLE READING AND PRAYER. THE MAJORITY PAY IT NO MIND, LET ME ASK YOU QUESTION. HERE IN MATTHEW 4:4 THE LORD JESUS CHRIST QUOTES A VERSE FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT TO REBUKE THE DEVIL, IF THE LIVING WORD WHO IS THE INSPIRATION THE AUHTOR THE EDITOR AND THE ULTIMATE COPYRIGHTER OF THE WRITTEN WORD THINKS ENOUGH TO USE IT AGAINST THE DEVIL, DON’T YOU THINK US AS THOSE WHO HAVEN’T WRITTEN ANYTHING IN THIS BOOK, SHOULD TAKE HEED AND NOTICE THAT WE NEED THIS BOOK THIS CANNON OF SCRIPTURE EVERY DAY WE LIVE!!!!!!!

4: SECOND TEMPTATION IS THAT OF PRIDE

A) IF THOU BE THE SON OF GOD

B) YOU HAVE EVERYONE IN HEAVEN LOOKING OUT FOR YOU

C) CAST YOURSELF DOWN

D) LET ME SEE HOW POWERFUL YOU REALLY ARE

POINT: ONCE AGAIN ONE OF THE GREATEST AILMENTS WE HAVE AS MEN AND WOMEN IS PRIDE. THE THOUGHT IN OUR TINY MINDS THAT WE DON’T NEED GOD BUT THAT WE CAN DO OR ACCOMPLISH WHATEVER WE WANT ON OUR OWN. GOD IS WITH ME EVERYDAY HE KEEPS ME AND PROVIDES FOR ME, AT NO TIME DOES HE EVER WANT ME TO BECOME PRIDEFUL OF THAT BUT THE MORE SO HUMBLE AND WILLING TO HELP OTHERS WITH WHAT HE HAS BLESSED ME WITH. GOD DOES NOT GIVE US THINGS FOR US TO ABUSE AND USE FOR OUR OWN PLEASURE. HE GIVES THEM TO US TO HONOR HIM AND UPLIFT HIS KINGDOM.
