This sermon explores the wisdom in Proverbs 10:10, guiding us in teaching biblical truths, navigating singlehood, and recognizing the traps of evil individuals.

Introduction

Good morning, dear brothers and sisters in Christ. Isn't it a joy to gather together in the house of the Lord, to lift our voices in praise and seek His wisdom through the study of His Word? We are truly blessed to have the freedom and the opportunity to do so.

Today, we will be focusing our hearts and minds on Proverbs 10:10, a verse that holds profound wisdom and guidance for us all. It reads: "Whoever winks maliciously causes grief, and a chattering fool comes to ruin." This verse, though short, is packed with wisdom that can guide us in our daily lives.

Our sermon today will be centered around three main points. Firstly, we will be looking at the importance of teaching truths from God's Word. Secondly, we will discuss the trials faced by single ladies in dating. And lastly, we will delve into the traps of an evil person. These are topics that touch on our everyday lives, and we can find guidance and wisdom from the Word of God to navigate through them.

Charles Spurgeon, that great preacher of the 19th century, once said, "Visit many good books, but live in the Bible." Indeed, the Bible is our ultimate source of truth, our guidebook for life. As we discuss these topics today, let it be the Bible that we live in, let it be the Word of God that we draw our wisdom from.

Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we thank You for this beautiful day, for the privilege of gathering together as Your children to study Your Word. We ask for Your Holy Spirit to guide us, to open our hearts and minds to the truths You have for us today. Help us to apply these truths in our daily lives, to be doers of Your Word and not just hearers. We ask this in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

So let's begin. Let's open our hearts and minds to the wisdom of God's Word. Let's allow His truth to shape our lives, to guide our steps, to influence our decisions. Let's live in the Bible, as Spurgeon encourages us to do, and see how it transforms us, how it brings us closer to the heart of God.

Teaching Truths from God's Word

Let’s start out by considering all the things that the Scriptures are. The Bible, God's Word, is a treasure trove of wisdom and guidance. It is a beacon of light in a world often shrouded in darkness. It is a compass, pointing us in the right direction when we find ourselves lost and confused. It is a source of comfort and encouragement when we are weary and burdened. It is a mirror, reflecting our true selves and revealing areas in our lives that need change. It is a weapon, equipping us to stand strong against the attacks of the enemy.

In the Bible, we find truths that are timeless and universal. These truths are not influenced by cultural trends or societal norms. They are not subject to change or reinterpretation. They stand firm and unchanging, just like the God who inspired them.

The first truth we find in Proverbs 10:10 is the danger of deceit. "Whoever winks maliciously causes grief." This is a vivid picture of someone who uses deceit to cause harm to others. Deceit is a tool of the enemy, used to sow discord and create division. It is a weapon that destroys relationships and breeds mistrust. The Bible warns us against engaging in deceit and calls us to be people of integrity and honesty.

The second truth in this verse is the folly of foolish talk. "A chattering fool comes to ruin." Here, the Bible warns us about the dangers of careless words. Our words have the power to build up or tear down, to encourage or discourage, to heal or to hurt. We are called to use our words wisely, to speak truth in love, and to use our words to glorify God and edify others.

Next is the consequence of our actions. Both the deceitful person and the foolish talker face negative outcomes – grief and ruin. This is a sobering reminder that our actions have consequences. We reap what we sow. If we sow deceit and foolishness, we will reap grief and ruin. But if we sow truth and wisdom, we will reap joy and prosperity.

The fourth truth in this verse is the call to wisdom. The contrast between the deceitful person and the foolish talker is a call to choose wisdom over folly. Wisdom leads to life and blessing, while folly leads to death and cursing. We are called to pursue wisdom, to seek it like hidden treasure, and to value it above all else.

Transition. In summary, Proverbs 10:10 teaches us about the dangers of deceit and foolish talk, the consequences of our actions, and the call to wisdom. As we study and apply these truths in our lives, we will be guided in the right path, equipped to face life's challenges, and empowered to live a life that pleases God and blesses others.
