Message Point: God’s holiness makes us cry out for cleansing.
Focus Passage: Isaiah 6:1-8
Introduction: Apparition of Jesus and/or Mary on walls, toast, stains on sidewalks, etc.
I. God’s Holiness Illustrated
a. Isaiah sees the Lord
b. Isaiah is horrified at his unholiness
c. Isaiah’s cleansing is painful
d. Isaiah is willingly commissioned
II. God’s Holiness Defined
a. God’s Holiness makes Him Unique (I Sam 2:2) "There is no one holy like the LORD, Indeed, there is no one besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God.
b. God’s Holiness is combined with His love (Ps. 145:17) The LORD is righteous in all His ways And kind in all His deeds.
III. My Response to God’s Holiness
a. I Worship (Ps 99:5) Exalt the LORD our God And worship at His footstool; Holy is He.
b. I must be holy (I Pet 1:15-16) but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY."
