Galatians 5:16-26 Scripture
I Don’t Know Why I Did It!
Romans 1: 25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen.
Disobedience, Envy, Ego was part of the first SINFUL moment. I group them together as one because if you look at Adam and Eve, what did the Serpent temped them with, being like God, smart as God, you will know just as much as God. Genesis 3:4-6
And then there was the punishment; Get out of my Garden and go to work. Genesis 3:23
The second set of SINs included Jealousy, Pride, Anger, and Loss of self control, Murder and lying. Genesis 4:6-8
Talk about getting with it and doing your own thing. How much time had to pass before all this happened? Adam and Eve were adults at their creation so they could start their family right away. Cain and Abel had to be at least in their upper teens.
All this mess that the world was put into could have happened within the first 18 to 20 years after Adam and Eve were created.
Sin does not take long to take over and destroy your life or your world. In a moment your whole world can change and be turned upside down. From the glory and pleasure of being in the presence of God and living in paradise, to the depths of despair, in a mille-second.
Mark 7:20-23 He went on: "What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean.' 21 For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22 greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.'"
The original sin, the sin that Adam and Eve brought with them from the Garden was embedded in their soul and is now embedded into our DNA.
We have no choice; we have this same sin in us when we are born. The actions we possess when we stand in front of our parents at the age of one year and say NO! Our defiant attitude and disobedient behavior comes out of the Garden of Eden.
This is not a product of God, but the contamination that the serpent brought in when he tempted Eve and they yielded to it.
If this is embedded in our DNA, how or what can we do to purge it from our system? How can we change what we don’t have control of?
Flip Wilson had a skit where he would say “the devil made me do it.”
We all laugh, but in a sense that is true.
We have a sinful nature embedded in us that makes it almost impossible to control without help.
Romans 1:18-25 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. 24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen.
Our only escape is through the blood of Jesus.
You see in the beginning man choose sin, self satisfaction and self-centeredness over God, and now it is a part of who and what mankind is.
As individuals, we need to start over; we need to be reborn, or to born again in to His grace.
The depravity that is in our inner being must be purged from our soul.
Our desire to sin, to be self-centered must be removed so we can accept what God has for us.
When we accept the Lord as our personal Savior, He sanctifies us; He makes us more aware of that desire of the original sin.
Romans 7:14-20, We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
