This sermon explores Jesus' roles as our Justified Journey, Joyful Joining, and Judicious Judge, as revealed in John 10:1-10, emphasizing the importance of engaging with God's Word.
Welcome, beloved family. How wonderful it is to be gathered here today in the presence of our Lord, in the fellowship of His people, to reflect upon His word and His extraordinary love for us.
Our focus today is on a passage from the Gospel of John, chapter 10, verses 1-10. These verses present Jesus in three distinct roles, each one revealing a different aspect of His divine character and ministry. As we ponder these scriptures, we will see Jesus as the Justified Journey, the Joyful Joining, and the Judicious Judge.
Charles Spurgeon, the renowned preacher often referred to as the "Prince of Preachers," once said, "A Bible that's falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn't." This quote reminds us of the importance of regularly engaging with the Word of God. It is our guide, our comfort, our source of truth and wisdom. It is within the pages of the Bible that we find our Savior, Jesus Christ, and learn of His love, His sacrifice, and His teachings.
In the passage we've read, we see Jesus referring to Himself as the door of the sheep. This is a metaphor that speaks volumes about His role in our lives. When we think of a door, we think of an entry point, a passage, a way through. In the same way, Jesus is our way through to salvation, to peace, to an abundant life. He is not just a door, but the door - the only legitimate and justified way to eternal life.
When Jesus says He is the door, He is essentially saying that He is the only way to God. He is the path we must take if we want to reach the Father. There are many voices in the world today, many paths that promise to lead us to truth, to happiness, to fulfillment. But Jesus makes it clear that He is the only legitimate path. He is the only way that leads to true life.
Jesus is not one of many options, He is the only option! He is not one of many paths. He is the only path. He is not one of many doors. He is the only door. And this door is always open to us, inviting us, beckoning us to enter and find rest, peace, and salvation. Now, let's consider the implications of this truth.
If Jesus is the only door, the only path to God, then any other path is illegitimate. Any other door is false. Any other way is a deception. This is a sobering thought. There are many voices in the world today, many paths that promise to lead us to truth, to happiness, to fulfillment. But Jesus makes it clear that He is the only legitimate path. He is the only way that leads to true life. This truth also has implications for how we live our lives.
If Jesus is the only door, then we must enter through Him. We must follow Him, trust Him, and obey Him. We must reject all other paths, all other doors, all other ways. We must commit ourselves fully to Him, knowing that He is the only way to true life.
Finally, let's consider the promise that comes with this truth. Jesus doesn't just say that He is the door. He also says that anyone who enters through Him will be saved. They will go in and out and find pasture. They will have life, and have it abundantly. This is a wonderful promise. It is a promise of salvation, of freedom, of abundance. It is a promise that is available to all who enter through Jesus, the only door.
We now find ourselves drawn to the image of Jesus as the shepherd of the sheep ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
