Summary: Few learn the lesson that hurt people hurt people, so we react to their actions instead of acting in love. BE KIND TO THE UNKIND and break the cycle.

BE KIND TO THE UNKIND... THEY NEED IT THE MOST...

Hurt people hurt people?

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

I have a pencil to give to each person with an eraser on it...

INTRODUCTION:

It is very hard to give kindness away... it seems to always return...

WHY NOT ERASE UNKINDNESS WITH AN ERASER OF KINDNESS...

I am told years ago most pencils did not have an eraser...

People that needed an eraser used bread or biscuit to erase...

Learn a great lesson, HURT PEOPLE HURT PEOPLE

I. DO YOU KNOW KINDNESS MATTERS? WHAT IS BROTHERLY KINDNESS?

2 Peter 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

[6] And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

[7] And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

A. There was a barber in Prestonsburg. His dad had been the barber in town many years.

Gary Wright, his son and daughter and a man named David were barbers.

I pastored a small mission church in the mountains of east Kentucky.

I have two sons... THREE HAIRCUTS WERE BUDGET BUSTERS...

I never said anything to Gary, but our trips often dipped into the food budget.

One day, Gary cut our hair and said NO CHARGE... His kindness was heard in our

family and I think news reached heaven.

For years Gary cut our hair FREE. Gary did not attend our church, he went to the big Baptist church

in town. If the other barber David cut our hair, GARY PULLED OUT THE MONEY OUT OF HIS

POCKET AND PAID FOR OUR HAIR CUT...

I am sitting at my desk, 5 hours away from Prestonsburg, 25+ years later, and the name,

GARY WRIGHT brings tears to my eyes... THANK YOU GARY...

If I am in Prestonsbuurg, I always go in and say: ON BEHAVE OF AN OLD PREACHER AND HIS TWO

SONS: THANK YOU GARY WRIGHT.

B. THINK KINDNESS, SPEAK THE LANGUAGE OF KINDNESS,

MAY OUR ACTIONS BE NOTHING BUT KINDNESS... THEY HAVE BEEN WITH JESUS...

II. NO ACT OF KINDNESS, NO MATTER HOW SMALL IS EVER FORGOTTEN...

GOD KEEPS GOOD RECORDS...

A. KIND ACTIONS BEGIN WITH KIND THOUGHTS...

B. KIND WORDS NEVER DIE...

BUT KIND WORDS WITHOUT KIND ACTIONS HAVE CANCER...

Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

C. Years ago I visited another church. There was a man that really smelled good.

I looked the cologne he had on... He shook hands with me...

Later in the service I put my hand near my face and I could smell that sweet fragrance on my

hand... He left the fragrance on my hand...

I desire to leave the fragrance of Jesus on the hearts that I touch...

III. WHO DO YOU SEE WHEN YOU LOOK IN A MIRROR...

A. When you look in a mirror... it might be nice if you saw JESUS

Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were

unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had

been with Jesus.

B. KINDNESS FEELS GOOD WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE THE ONE BEING DONE FOR?

OR THE ONE DOING IT?

IV. ADD... ADD ON PUT ON... WEAR...

A. IF YOU WERE ARRESTED FOR BEING KIND...

B. WOULD THERE BE ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO CONVICT YOU?

1 Cor. 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is

not puffed up,

Col. 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness,

humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

V. IF YOU DESIRE TO BE KIND TO THE HEAVENLY FATHER, BE KIND TO HIS CHILDREN...

BE A FRIEND...

Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that

sticketh closer than a brother.

A. KIND ACTIONS BEGIN WITH KIND THOUGHTS...

B. KIND WORDS NEVER DIE...

BUT KIND WORDS WITHOUT KIND ACTIONS HAVE CANCER...

C. WANT TO HAVE FRIENDS? WHAT KIND OF FRIENDS DO YOU WANT?

BE A FRIEND...

1. KINDNESS

2. UNDERSTANDING

3. COMMUNICATION

4. GIVING

VI. SOW KINDNESS, REAP KINDNESS...

IF I ERR MAY I ERR TO THE SIDE OF MERCY AND GRACE...

A. KINDNESS IS A LANGUAGE BLIND PEOPLE CAN SEE...

AND DEAF PEOPLE CAN HEAR...

Ephes. 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from

you, with all malice:

[32] And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake

hath forgiven you.

B. I RATHER BEEN TREATED KINDLY THAN TO HAVE AN EXTRAVAGANT FLORAL DISPLAY

DECAYING AT MY GRAVE...

C. Maybe money will buy a fine dog...

BUT KINDNESS WILL MAKE HIS TAIL WAG...
