Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Jesus calls us to live lives of humility and honor, lifting others above ourselves and focusing on eternal rewards instead of immediate gratification.
Imagine you have a bag of candy, and you're super excited to eat it all by yourself. But then, you see someone who looks like they could use a pick-me-up. What would you do? Would you keep the candy to yourself or share it with them? This simple choice can teach us a lot about humility and honor.
Today, we're going to talk about something that might be a bit challenging for us, especially in a world where we can get what we want, when we want it. We're talking about humility and honor. Jesus has some important lessons for us on how to live our lives with these values in mind.
This simple choice can teach us a lot about humility and honor.
In Luke 14, Jesus is at a dinner party, and He notices that people are trying to get the best seats in the house. They want to be seen and feel important. But Jesus tells them a story about how embarrassing it would be if they had to move to a lower seat because someone more important came along. He's teaching them about humility and how we should put others first.
So, what does this mean for us? Well, it means that we should be humble and not always try to make ourselves look good or be the center of attention. Instead, we should focus on lifting others up and helping them feel important and valued.
In Philippians 2, we read about how Jesus is the ultimate example of humility. He gave up everything, even His life, to serve others and show them God's love. That's the kind of humility and honor we should strive for in our lives.
Now, let's think about that bag of candy from earlier. If we choose to share it with someone who needs a pick-me-up, we're practicing humility and honor. We're putting their needs above our own and showing them that they matter.
So, here's a challenge for you this week: Find someone who needs to be lifted up and do something to help them. It could be as simple as sharing your candy or offering a kind word. Remember, when we humble ourselves and honor others, we're following Jesus' example and showing the world His love.
"Lord, help us to be humble and honor others in our lives. Teach us to put their needs above our own and to show them Your love. Thank You for the example of Jesus, and help us to follow in His footsteps. Amen."
