2015.04.11.Sermon.Humble Prayer, understanding God’s Kingdom, Power and Glory forever.

William Akehurst, HSWC

When we understand that we pray to GOD our HEAVENLY FATHER, whose Kingdom, Power and Glory we live in, we are humbled before HIM, yet know that HE is the ONE AND ONLY ONE who can supply for all our needs.

Understanding whose authority we are under as we pray for God’s Kingdom, Power and Glory, for ever.

Matthew 6:9-13

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

HIS KINGDOM

Revelation 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

1 Corinthians 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS IN POWER

HIS POWER

Revelation 19:1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:

WE ARE STRENGTHENED ACCORDING TO HIS GLORIOUS POWER.

Colossians 1:9-11 9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

EVEN THE PREACHING OF THE CROSS SHOWS THE POWER OF GOD TO THE BELIEVER

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

WHEN JESUS RETURNS, WE SHALL SEE HIM IN POWER AND GREAT GLORY

Luke 21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

HIS GLORY SHINES BRIGHT AND WE WALK IN THAT LIGHT

Revelation 21:23-24 23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.

WE HAVE GOD’S POWER IN OUR LIVES THROUGH THE HOLY GHOST

Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

WE WERE CREATED FOR HIS PLEASURE

Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Philippians 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

UNDERSTANDING HIS KINGDOM, POWER AND GLORY PUTS EVERYTHING IN PERSPECTIVE.

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

UNDERSTANDING GOD’S KINGDOM, POWER AND GLORY SHOW US WHO WE ARE. WE ARE TO SUBMIT YOURSELVES TO GOD

James 4:6-7 6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

OUR HUMILITY

WE MUST REALIZE OUR LOWLINESS IN LIGHT OF HIS POWER AND GLORY AND NOT BE LIKE THESE WHO DENY THE POWER OF GOD vs 5

2 Timothy 3:1-5 1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

2 TYPES OF PEOPLE. THE PROUD AND THE HUMBLE. BE HUMBLE BEFORE THE LORD.

Luke 18:9-14 9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
