How you doing is a no, no

Psalm 17:7 Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them. 8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings

In my prayers I have noticed that many times I will ask God to keep me or others I pray for under His wing for protection of the day ahead.

When we get up every morning we never know what we will face. It could turn out to be one of the happiest days in our entire life or it could be one written in our mind to have been disastrous.

I believe this Psalm was written when King David was running from Saul and Saul and his men were closing in on David. This Psalm can also be a prayer for us today when we find ourselves in similar situations of trial, anxiety, or danger. Danger, trials and troubles will always be a haunting reality as long as we are in this body of flesh.

A few years ago Brenda and I attended a week long seminar at Billy Graham's training center in Ashville, NC. It was a class on how to deal with and get help to those in a national or world disaster. Their main goal is to effectively meet the emotional and spiritual needs of those suffering. It's called RRT which stands for Rapid Response Team.

It was a great class with tons of information and taught by some of the most caring people you could ever meet. We never left the compound. The class ate 3 meals together and for 8 hours a day you lived breathed and dealt with people's emotions during crises.

The one thing I remember most in the training is to "Never ask anyone how they are doing." The instructor says "They know how they are doing and it's not good." The question should be ...what can I do for you or can I get you anything?

It's not always easy saying the right thing to folks when they are going through a crises in their life. I have always said just being two arms and two ears can be more help most of the time then anything. That was another sticky note during our RRT training. Listen when people pour their heart out. We might not be able to help in putting their life back together but, we can listen and give them Gods promise that His children are under the shadow of His wing.

For the life of me , I can't see how anyone gets through life without God. When people rely on themselves they fall. When people rely on God they still hurt and suffer but, it's more like growing pains.

The Bible also says in Psalm 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: God not only has His children under His wing but, gives them strength.

Is God able to help us and give us strength? Listen to what David said in Psalm 13 For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling,

God has delivered us from eternal death by Jesus Christ our Saviour and He helps us through trials and crises here on earth and He also gives strength needed to stay close to Him.
