How will this be?
Luke 1:34”And Mary said to the angel, "How will this be, since I am a virgin?"
The good news of ‘Christmas’ is that God does not abandon us because of our puny faith or dubious attitude, He so lovingly pauses to give us the instructions and teachings so that we understand His Heart and His ways! Are you listening? Sit back for a powerful Christmas message!
May be you are in the deepest hole today, and you refuse to believe in miracles and you say ‘how will this be?’, if so, this message is for you!
Angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to virgin Mary who was betrothed to be married to Joseph and said:’ you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High…’ Such news would astound anybody! She was young and soon to be married and look what she says ‘How will this be?’ The angel does not strike her for her lack of faith but goes on to explain to her and expound the situation. He tells her about the Holy Spirit that will come upon her and thus she would conceive the child to be called the Son of God, further the angel does not stop there, he goes ahead and explains about the miracle that happened in the life of Elizabeth and says: “Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For nothing will be impossible with God." In short, the angel made Mary understand that Elizabeth who was old has also conceived, so the same miracle would happen for you too, trust God! Yes friend, this is the good news of Christmas, that nothing is impossible with God! Cheer up!
Jesus did not need promos or advertisement campaign to announce his birth, a ‘star’ in the sky guided the wise men to the exact spot where Jesus was in Bethlehem. Man, how will this be? How can a star guide wise men? May be you say this is unbelievable! Please understand He is a miracle working God! When the doctors had asked me to abort my five month old pregnancy because of complications in my uterus and during this period of uncertainty and agony, I took a giant faith of trusting God for a miracle and many asked me, ‘How will this be?’ God proved all of them wrong and my son Joshua was miraculously born. Friend, most important, miracles happen for those who believe Him whole-heartedly. When God watched Mary listen to the explanation of Gabriel with an open heart, God gave her ‘understanding’ and that’s why Mary was able to immediately say: ‘Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word! Powerful! God watches those who diligently listen to His Word! Jesus said:”To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given.” (Mark 4:25)
Joseph was confused when he heard that Mary was pregnant; however, since he was a nice person, he planned to divorce her silently. God watched this, He did not allow Joseph to wallow in his own thoughts, but appeared to Joseph in the night and explained everything to him. The Bible says: ‘When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife..’(Mathew 1:24) While people snore and sleep when they listen to a sermon during the day, but here we see Joseph with clear understanding even when God spoke to him in the night. God does not leave us with our skeptical and negative thoughts but pursues us to give us a clear spiritual understanding. He connects you to good mentors, teachers, preachers, church and good fellowship! This morning, while I was thinking of a particular man with frustration who kept walking in and out of God, I happened to read the scripture: “….The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth.” (Luke 3:5) I felt like God telling me ‘Bala, relax…I will straighten it out, I will make it happen!
Nothing is impossible with God
Wish you all a blessed and lovely Christmas!
