REJECTING GOD
By doni@yahoo.com
1 Sam 8:7
And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.
1 Sam 15:23
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
There are two main ways How people can reject God:
1. The reason why people reject God that they don’t like God to be The MAster, The Ruler, The King, The Almighty God in their life. SO if we rejecting Jesus to be our Lord and Master in our own life, we already reject Him.
2. By rejecting His Word. This is a sin, even the Bible equals it with witchcraft, stubbornness, iniquity and idolatry.
But beside this two main ways, there are more practical ways as quote in Mark chapter 6. This verses in the 6th chapter of Mark will help us more understand by which way and in what area of our lives we can reject Him or His Word in our lives.
1. Jesus is just like us.
Mark 6:2-3, "... Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him."
Or, thinking that Jesus just like one of our ordinary friends, who we can play with. Many people "get used" to go to the church. Or, "get used" to hear the sermon. And every services just like a routine agenda in our ordinary life. Every meeting with God, must be a tremendous changing life encounter, and not just an entertainment in the sunday morning. Jesus is not someone you can play around, HE is God! Honor Him as God. Yes, He is a loving Father, but He is the Father who needs respect and honor from every and each one of His son.
This kind of attittude can brings us into:
1. dissapointed or offended situation (v.3);
2. unbelief (v.6)
2. Do not give place
Mark 6:11, "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city."
The Bible stated 3 kinds of people who do not give place to God [and His Word] in their lives:
1. unrepented
2. filled with evil spirit (Matt 12:43-45)
3. in sickness (Prov 4:20-22)
Matt 10:40-42, "He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward."
May I ask you? According to this verses, what will be happen when someone receive the prophet or the righteous man? We will gain their reward, right? And, what will be happen when we RECEIVE JESUS AND HIS WORD? We will obtain His reward and EVERY promises and blessings in HIs Word!
Rev 3:20.
3. Have a quarrel.
Mark 6:19, "Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:"
Quarrel with someone can be a sign of rejecting God. When we have a wrong judgement about someone, we will be easily fall into unobedience situation (Gen 4:6-8). We cannot have a right relation with God, but in the other hand a broken relation with others!
4. Perplexed, double-minded, doubt.
Mark 6:20, "For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly."
NASB: "... And when he heard him, he was very perplexed; but he used to enjoy listening to him."
Jam 1:4-8
And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.
For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,
