HOW TO WALK WITH GOD

TEXT: Ephesians 4:1-3

INTRODUCTION: How blessed it is to walk with God. What fellowship and joy we have as we walk with Him. But, there is a great price to pay if we desire to walk with Him.

It means to walk before God-Gen. 17: 1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, "I am God Almighty ; walk before me and be blameless.

It means to walk after God-Deut. 13:4 It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.

It means to walk with God-Gen. 5: 24 Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.

I. A WALK THAT IS IN FAITH: II Cor. 5:7 We live by faith, not by sight.

1. We are saved by faith

2. We are kept by faith

3. We live and walk by faith

II. A WALK THAT IS IN LOVE: Eph. 5:2 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

1. We should love our Lord

2. We should love the church

3. We should love the brethren

III. A WALK THAT IS HUMBLE: Micah 6:8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

1. We are to love humbly

2. We are to worship humbly

3. We are to walk humbly

IV. A WALK THAT IS IN AGREEMENT WITH GOD: Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

1. We must be going God's way

3. We must walk in step with Him

2. We must be in agreement

The body of Christ is made up of different, diverse parts, but those parts though different must all work together.

V. A WALK THAT PLEASES GOD: I Thes. 4: 1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

1. We should not please man

2. We should not please self

3. We should not please friends

VI. A WALK THAT IS UPRIGHT: Psalms 84:11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

1. Walk in purity

2. Walk in peace

3. Walk in purpose

VII. A WALK THAT IS WORTHY OF THE LORD: Col 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

1. Walk in the light: John. 1:7. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

2. Walk in the spirit: Gal. 5: 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

3. Walk that is circumspect: Eph. 5: 15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
