Message Point: We must avoid the things that anger God.

Focus Passage: Zephaniah 1:5-6

Introduction: pushing buttons to make someone mad

I. Waiver between God and something else

a. 1Kings 18:21 Elijah came near to all the people and said, "How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him."

b. God – self – money – status – TV – sports – pleasure – etc

II. Those who quit following God

a. Luke 9:62 But Jesus said to him, "No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

b. how many people have we baptized that have already quit coming?

III. Those who ignore God altogether

a. Luke 12:19 'And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.

b. 1Ch 10:13 -14 So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against the LORD, because of the word of the LORD which he did not keep; and also because he asked counsel of a medium, making inquiry of it, and did not inquire of the LORD. Therefore He killed him and turned the kingdom to David the son of Jesse.

c. Mark 11 – Jesus drove out the money changers of the temple.
