HOW TO KILL A GIANT

I Samuel 17

There are a lot of giants in our life that want to defeat us. The giant of discouragement, worry, unbelief, temptation, dishonesty, covetousness…The first thing we had better do is kill the first giant! If we don’t kill the first giant that comes against us we will run from them the rest of our lives.

1. DAVID HAD FAITH IN GOD (V.37)

He knew God would deliver him! -- True Bible Faith can move mountains! (Mt.21:21)

Mt. 17: 14-20 - The disciples ask Jesus, why couldn’t we cast the demons out of the lunatic boy? Jesus said……Because of your Unbelief! -- Mt. 9:29 - According to your faith, Be it unto you. Mk. 11:22 - Have faith in God! -- God Answers Prayer, Supply Needs, Not allow us to be tempted above that which we are able to bear, We know all things work together for good to them that love God, who are the called….

2. DAVID PUT OFF THE WEIGHTS THAT WOULD HINDER HIM (Vs. 38,39)

Hebrews 12:1,2 - Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily beset us, Looking Unto Jesus, the author and finisher our faith. – (Weights of doubt and discouragement)

3. DAVID’S WEAPONS OF FAITH (V.40)

A Staff -- A Sling -- And Five Smooth Stones

THE STAFF OF THE LORD’S PRESENCE - Isa. 41:10 - Fear thou not for I am with thee; be not dismayed; for I am thy God. -- Phil. 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me

THE SLING OF GOD’S WORD - V.45 - You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a shield… But I Come To You In The Name Of The Lord.

THE FIVE SMOOTH STONES - Christ is -- Christ can -- Christ has -- Christ will -- Christ does. ----- Christ is our strength; Christ can Conquer; Christ has All Power; Christ will give victory; Christ does give victory.

4. PERSECUTION OF FAITH (43-47)

Faith is sure to be made fun of, laughed at, even sneered at….. But Go On For Jesus! ( King and the Prince, and bowl of water) (Bully called boy sissy for carrying a bible)

5. COURAGE OF FAITH (V.48)

David did not wait for the enemy to come to him, He hasted, and ran toward the enemy!

6. VICTORY OF FAITH (Vs. 49-54)

When a man of FAITH, takes the STONE OF CHRIST’S VICTORY, and puts it in the

SLING OF GOD’S WORD, and slings it in the POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST!

IT WILL BRING DOWN ANY GIANT!
