HOW MUCH POWER DOES SATAN HAVE?
Ephesians 2:2
INTRODUCTION: Satan is a very powerful creature. He has power that many of us don’t realize, next to the Trinity of God he is the most powerful being in the universe. We will show a little of what Satan’s power is.
I. SATAN HAS GREAT POWER.
Satan’s power exceeds the power of any human being. Christ himself called Satan a strong man. Mark 3:23-27 And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
II. SATAN HAS POWER OVER ALL SAVED/UNSAVED MEN.
I John 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
This whole world lies in the evil one, or in the lap of the evil one.
BATTLEFIELD OF THE MIND – My Mind Has Been Kidnapped
We wonder about how things can happen the way they do. We wonder how governments become so corrupt and how people can become so deceptive.
It would probably scare the life out of us if we knew what was really going on behind the scenes in this world.
III. SATAN HAS POWER TO HINDER PRAYER.
Daniel 10:13,14 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.
Satan had power to detain an angel in the air for three weeks. This angel had the answer to Daniel’s prayer. But the answer was held up for three weeks because of Satan.
Satan always tries to hinder our prayers.
IV. SATAN HAS POWER TO DECEIVE NATIONS.
Revelation 20:7-10. And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

History test from 1016 to 2016, most would be hard pressed to pass.
V. SATAN HAS POWER TO DEFORM MEN AND WOMEN.
Luke 13:11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
Luke 13:16. “And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?”
VI. SATAN HAS THE POWER TO CAUSE DEATH.
SATAN DOESN’T HAVE THE POWER TO KILL OR TO TAKE LIFE. But Satan caused Cain to kill Abel “Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother.” I John 3:12.
The Devil used Cain in order to murder Abel. “He was a murdered from the beginning.” John 8:44. VII. SATAN’S POWER IS0 LIMITED - THANK GOD.
Job 1:10-12. Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.
While it is true that Satan has much power, yet his power is limited. Satan can do only what God permits him to do. Satan is subject to God.
