Good morning, beloved family of God. How wonderful it is to gather together in this sacred space, bound by our shared love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As we unite in worship, we affirm the words of the Apostle Paul in Romans 1:12, "that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine."
Today, we are going to focus our hearts and minds on a beautiful passage from 2 Kings 4:8-37. This passage is a testament to the manifold grace of God and the wonders of His divine providence. It speaks to us about God's blessings, His purpose for each of us, and our responsibility with His blessings.

Help us to see the blessings You have bestowed upon us, to understand the purpose You have for each of us, and to acknowledge our responsibility with Your blessings. In the Scripture we just read, we see a woman who was blessed with wealth and resources. She used these blessings to extend hospitality to Elisha, providing him with food and a place to stay. This act of kindness was not just a one-off gesture, but a consistent practice whenever Elisha passed by. Her blessings became a source of blessing for Elisha, who was able to rest and refresh himself in the comfort of her home.
This woman didn't hoard her blessings: She didn't keep them to herself. Instead, she shared them with others, particularly with Elisha, a man of God. This is a powerful example for us. When God blesses us, He doesn't intend for us to keep those blessings to ourselves. He wants us to use them to bless others. Our resources, our talents, our time - these are all gifts from God that we can use to serve others and glorify Him.
The woman's act of kindness didn't go unnoticed: Elisha, moved by her generosity, wanted to return the favor. He wanted to bless her in return. This is another important lesson for us. When we use our blessings to bless others, we open ourselves up to receive blessings in return. This doesn't mean that we give with the expectation of getting something in return. Rather, it's about understanding that generosity creates a cycle of blessing that benefits everyone involved.
Elisha's blessing to the woman was not material: It was something far more precious - a child. The woman, who was childless and whose husband was old, had probably given up hope of ever becoming a mother. But God, through Elisha, blessed her with a son. This miracle child was not just a blessing to the woman and her husband, but also to their entire community. He was a living testament to God's power and grace.
God's blessings often come in unexpected ways: The woman probably never imagined that her act of hospitality would result in her becoming a mother. But God, in His infinite wisdom and love, knew exactly what she needed and blessed her accordingly. This reminds us to always keep our hearts and minds open to the surprising and wonderful ways in which God can bless us.
In the same way: We should also be open to the unexpected ways in which we can use our blessings to bless others. We might think that our resources, talents, or time are insignificant. But to someone else, they could make a world of difference. We should never underestimate the power of our blessings, no matter how small or insignificant they might seem to us.
The power of faith: The woman had faith in Elisha as a man of God. She believed in his words and promises. And it was her faith that made the miracle possible. This is a powerful reminder for us to always have faith in God and His promises. When we have faith, we open ourselves up to receive God's blessings in our lives.
