How Long Has It Been

I reference these two scriptures and paraphrase the stories

John 5:1-9 Mark 5:25 - 34

I. Both have been Sick a Long Time ( 38yrs & 12 yrs)

1. Two very different people with a similar situation

2. They aren¡¦t the only ones sick

3. They both have been trying to get better they want a healing

a. The man had no money & the woman had spent all of hers

b. They were Hopeless

II. Lets look at the man

a. Among people just like him

b. Had an excuse

c. Did he want to be healed? ( Jesus asked a tough question)

III. Sometimes the problem is us (We don¡¦t want to be healed)

a. We like the way things are

b. We need the excuse

c. We like throwing those pity parties

d. We have to want to be healed

IV. The woman on the other hand shouldn¡¦t have been where she was

1. She was unclean ( Had been sick 12 years)

a. Willing to risk everything to be healed

b. She was sick and tired of being sick and tired

2. Maybe you can relate

a. Tried many things

b. Sick and tired of being sick and tired

c. Don¡¦t care anymore what others will say

d. Ready to reach out and just touch the hem of his garment.

„« Are you waiting on someone to do it for you

„« have you tried everything and know how to do

„« Are you ready to reach out to Jesus?

„« Its your choice.
