How Is Your Loyalty To God?
Contributed by Dr.w.samuel Legon on Apr 10, 2020 (message contributor)
Summary: Have we been faithful to our Lord like men of old?
HOW IS YOUR LOYALTY TO GOD?
Ephesians 5:1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
Let’s look at men of old to see how they were loyal.
We need to know we are in God’s will doing what he wants us to do.
Make our testimony count for him.
(1) Look at Elijah.
1st Kings 19: 9 And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?
10 And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
Hiding from those who wanted take his life.
He saw the sin’s of Israel.
Forsaken God’s covenants;
(2) The Psalmist.
Psalms 119: 36 Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.
37 Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.
38 Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.
Let me have a willing heart.
Turn me away from all vanity.
Establish my heart.
(3) Daniels testimony.
Daniel 9: 3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
5 We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:
Look to the Lord and pray.
Confess
Have mercy we have not kept your commandments
We have rebelled
(4) Hosea
Hosea 1110 They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.
11 They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD.
12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.
We are trembling now because God has permitted this to happen.
Lies deceit and unfaithful.
God sees it all no hiding.
(5) Enoch
Hebrews 11: 5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
No death straight to Heaven.
We must have faith.
We need to diligently seek him now.
(6) Paul
Acts 23: 1 And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.
I have live as God led me.
My conscience is clear.
As I stand in the presents of all mighty God.
(7) Prescribed for children.
Ephesians 5: 1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
Follow Christ
Walk in love
He died for you and i.
Keep from the things we must be saint of God.
