How Can I Know What God Wants Me To Do?

Summary: A message teaching listeners how God guides us.
How can you know what God wants you to do? Use the G.U.I.D.E. principle:
G – Go to the Lord (Psalm 5:8)
• Acknowledge the Lord
• Trust God (Proverbs 3:6)
• Submit to God (Psalm 25:9)
• Pray (James 1:5)
U – Understand God’s principles (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
• Understand what the Bible clearly says (e.g. that we should obey the 10 commandments is a “no brainer”).
• Ask, “What does the Bible have to say about my specific situation?”
I - Investigate your options (Proverbs 4:5; 14:8; 21:5)
• What are the consequences of each option? (Psalm 90:12)
• Use your common sense (Proverbs 9:12; 10:13; 14:6)
• What are your gifts, abilities and talents? (1 Corinthians 12:1-9; 14:12)
D – Discuss it with others (Proverbs 12:15; 15:22; 20:18)
• Don’t be too proud to learn from other people’s mistakes.
• Listen to experienced people only (Psalm 1; 2 Chronicles 10)
E – Express your freedom
• God gave Adam freedom (Genesis 2:19-20)
• If in doubt, wait (Proverbs 21:5; Romans 14:23; Philippians 4:7)
