Surviving Disaster #2

Home Invasion

Psalm 11:3

Intro: Spike TV has a new series called Surviving Disaster. As i watched, it became obvious that life has disasters, and if we are to truly survive life, then we need to look to the one who gives life, Jesus. Today we look at home invasions.

One place most people feel safe is their home. But an alarming 8000 homes are invaded by intruders every day in America. In the series on Spike TV, the commentator says, when you think it might be happening, it is always best to overreact, call for help, and apologize later if need be.

In our text today the bible speaks of the foundation of the righteous. I submit to you today the foundation, the safe, secure place is our home, and it is under attack!

The home intruders I speak of are demonic. Satan and all of his demons are on a rampage to steal and destroy what is precious to us and to God. So, comes this message of survival. Jesus says, “You can survive this disaster, if you will do what I say.”

The first thing we need to determine is the breech, sometimes

I. Demonic influences come into our home through open doors. I remember visiting with a deacon in Haywood, when I pulled back up to the house and locked the car doors, he said, “you forget, you live in Haywood now.” Two nights later my truck was sacked!

A. Open Doors like the Internet

1.

B. Cell Phones

C. TV

II. Demonic influences also break into our homes.

A. Deceptions – 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (NLT) 13 These people are false apostles. They have fooled you by disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 But I am not surprised! Even Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no wonder his servants can also do it by pretending to be godly ministers. In the end they will get every bit of punishment their wicked deeds deserve.

Making you believe what is bad is good ; Homosexuality, Pornography, Adultery, Lying, Cheating, 1 Timothy 4:1-2 (NLT) 1 Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from what we believe; they will follow lying spirits and teachings that come from demons. 2 These teachers are hypocrites and liars. They pretend to be religious, but their consciences are dead.

B. Idolatry - Psalm 106:34-39 (NLT) 34 Israel failed to destroy the nations in the land, as the LORD had told them to. 35 Instead, they mingled among the pagans and adopted their evil customs. 36 They worshiped their idols, and this led to their downfall. 37 They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons. 38 They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters. By sacrificing them to the idols of Canaan, they polluted the land with murder. 39 They defiled themselves by their evil deeds, and their love of idols was adultery in the LORD’s sight.

1. sacrificing things most precious in order to live a hedonistic life, seeking pleasure. Even substituting God for pleasure.

2. substituting things that are real for things that are false

Not only Deception and Idolatry, but also

C. Busyness - Jesus said, the Word falls on hard soil, rocky soil, in weedy places, and good soil.

1. this is the weedy places. When you have too much going on, and no time for God. May be even good things, but you miss the best things because of no time…

Before you know it you have an invasion. So, what do you do when you realize that the enemy has found his way into your home?

III. Fortify your Defenses – knowing his intentions are no good. Then you must look around you to find the breech, and strengthen it. Unplug the TV, turn off the cell phones, get a blocking software for the internet. The whole idea is to do whatever it takes to close the doorway. The bible asks the question, “who will

A. stand in the gap?” we need someone who is willing to block the enemy! In the Military, they teach you a maneuver called the L . It is simply one person distracting while the other attacks! 1. one defense maneuver is prayer. Pray for the fences to be restored…

IV. Form your Offences - remember while the enemy is distracted, this is the time to strike!

A. go at him with all you’ve got - Matthew 16:18 (KJV), and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 1. this is a picture of the believer moving forward, pressing onward, because of the knowledge that Jesus is the Christ, and all the demonic forces and Satan himself are no match for Jesus! And if He is yours, than who can be against you!
