Hold On, God Is Fighting For You
Contributed by Dr. Jonathan Vorce on Mar 20, 2025 (message contributor)
Summary: In this message, Dr. Vorce encourages us to surrender to God, trusting Him to fight our battles. We are reminded that we don’t have to bear the weight of life’s challenges alone.
Exodus 14:14 AMP: "The Lord will fight for you while you [only need to] keep silent and remain calm."
Introduction
• Life often feels like a series of uphill battles.
o There are moments when the weight of challenges can leave us feeling drained, confused, and uncertain about how to move forward.
o Think of the single parent juggling work and family, wondering if they have the strength to make it through another week.
o Picture the person battling an illness, fighting for their health while holding on to hope.
o Or perhaps, it’s the individual watching a dream shatter despite years of effort and commitment.
o We’ve all faced seasons when it seemed that no matter what we did, the obstacles were just too great.
• But it’s in the most difficult moments, when it feels like giving up is the only option, that we must remember a vital truth: we are not alone.
o The God who created us, the God who loves us, is actively working on our behalf. He fights for us. He meets us in our darkest nights, carries us when we can no longer walk, and battles in ways we cannot always see.
o The Bible is full of promises that assure us of His unwavering presence and His power to overcome the impossible.
• Today, we are going to explore God's role as our defender, our deliverer, and our shield in times of trouble.
o God promises to fight for us and to bring us through even the hardest of times. All He asks is that we trust Him and hold onto the hope He offers.
o There’s an incredible comfort in knowing that the Creator of the universe, the One who has conquered sin and death, is standing by our side.
• If you’re feeling weary, if you’re questioning whether you can keep going, take heart. God is fighting for you, and the victory is already His.
• Now, let's lean into His promises and discover the strength He provides when we hold on in faith.
I. God Knows Your Struggles
Psalm 34:17-18
"The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."
A. God hears your cries. There is never a tear you shed that the Lord doesn’t see.
B. He is close to the brokenhearted. Even in your pain, His presence surrounds you.
C. He delivers us in tough times. God's rescue plan might not be visible immediately, but it is always right on time.
II. God Fights Battles You Cannot See
2 Chronicles 20:15
"Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's."
A. Trust in God's strength. Your human abilities have limits, but God’s power is infinite.
B. The unseen realm is full of activity. Angels are working, God is declaring victory over situations you cannot fix.
C. Fear not. Standing in faith means refusing to allow fear to rule your heart, knowing God is in control.
III. Waiting on God Leads to Victory
Isaiah 40:31 AMP
"But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] will gain new strength and renew their power; they will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not grow tired."
A. God renews your strength. While you wait, He strengthens you in ways that prepare you for the next leg of the journey.
B. You will rise above. Just as the eagle soars above storms, God’s power lifts you to new heights of peace and clarity.
C. Perseverance brings blessings. With God, enduring the wait always leads to spiritual growth and eventual victory.
IV. God Is Faithful from Beginning to End
Romans 8:31 AMP
"What then shall we say to all these things? If God is for us, who can [successfully] be against us?"
A. God does not leave or forsake you. His faithfulness doesn’t waver, even when we feel weak or uncertain.
B. He turns your struggles into testimonies. What was meant for harm, God transforms for good.
C. Victory is already declared. Because God fights for you, the spiritual outcome has already been secured.
