Summary: It’s not church that changes lives it’s Christ, His presence is the difference between life and death, victory or defeat, joy or sadness.

1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days;
What we need in the united states of America more than anything else is Jesus in the house.
More than social security, more than health insurance, more than wic, more than welfare, More than padded pews, and carpeted floors, more than good singing, good preaching, good teaching,, we can have all that And not have His Presence.
Many people have a picture of Jesus in the house, But (We need the presence of Jesus in the House)
it was noised that he was in the house.
When Jesus is in the house there is something to talk about.
2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door:
When the house is full of his presence, the house will be filled with hungry people, People are still seeking the reality of the presence and power of Jesus Christ, Not religion, not form, not church, not programs and activities (Just give me Jesus).
he preached the word unto them.
It may sound old fashioned, it may look ridiculous, But there is still a need for the Gospel to be proclaimed loudly under the unction and power of the Holy Ghost,
3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
Palsy is a paralyzing condition, it somehow disconnects the strength of the body from the brain, the brain knows what it wants the body to do, but the body does not respond, it’s a helpless condition:
Just like the condition of man: we are powerless, to help ourselves, we were lost without the power to save ourselves, Like this man we cannot make our flesh live right.
What is the answer?: The answer is the power of the life of Christ in you, the only one who can give you the power over those things is Jesus, Through the power of his spirit in your life you can mortify, crucify those sinful desires, (Were all like this man in some way – There is something we can’t do for ourselves, that only Gods power can accomplish).
Thank God for those four men who brought this man to Jesus:
Very possibly these were four men who had been helped by Jesus, they knew his power to save heal and deliver, (Those of us who know his power to save heal and deliver, should now be actively involved in reaching those who are still bound and oppressed, sick and afflicted and lost, and bring them to Jesus).
4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press,
There are some things that you are not going to get without a fight, there are some things, that won’t come without pressing, there are some bondages, and habits and addictions, and lusts of the flesh, and sicknesses, and diseases, and strongholds of the mind that aren’t going to change until your willing to press. (If it’s worth having it’s worth fighting for).
You know the story of the woman with the issue of blood:
Mr 5:27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
She had to put forth effort, she had to press through the pressure.
they uncovered the roof where he was:
This is speaking about getting honest with God, You cannot have the presence and power of Jesus in your life, with un confessed sin in your heart, sin separates from the presence of God,
Prov 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
and when they had broken it up:
Hosea 10:12 break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
They let him down: This is a principle with God, If you want to come up, you have to go down.
The way up is down: There is an anointing that will never come to the proud, and self assured, and self sufficient, There is an anointing that will only come to those who will go down, (down in death to self). Down in submission, down in obedience, down in humility. (example – Naaman the Leper)
2 Ki 13:21 It was When the dead man was let down that he touched the anointing in the bones of Elisha and he revived, and came to life.
Arise: stand up in your mind, stand up in your thinking, stand up out of your depressed thinking, stand up in your emotions, stand up in your faith. ( little boy – laughing out loud. I may be sitting down on the outside but I’m standing up on the inside).
