Summary: HIS NAME SHALL BE CALLED WONDERFUL

Isa. 9:6 HIS NAME SHALL BE CALLED WONDERFUL I. HIS FAME "Child is born" calls to mind his humanity!) His birth was anything but ordinary in: 1. Its announcement – Luke 1:26-33 2. Its accomplishment – Isa. 7:14; Luke 1:32 3. Its accompaniment – Luke 2:1-20

II. HIS SHAME "Son is given" calls to mind His deity and His death) This reminds us that He came to this earth for the singular purpose of dying on Calvary for the sin of the world – John 18:37. Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

III. HIS CLAIM "Government" reminds us that He rose from the dead, ascended back to Heaven and is coming again for His people and then in glory to reign upon the earth!) He came the first time as a Lamb to die, this time He comes as a King to conquer. Rev. 19:11-16.

Knowledge – Acts 1:24; And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen, 3. Education – Isa. 40:13-14 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him? 14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding? 4. Price – Isa. 55:1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 5. Availablility – Heb. 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Sin – Brought salvation to all men – Heb. 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. 3.
