Psalm 143 Help
1. David's Request -
It's Personal - 1 Hear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications:
It's Powerful - in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness
It's Prudential - 2 And enter not into judgment with thy servant:
for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.
It's Painful -
The Distress - 3 For the enemy hath persecuted my soul;
The Depth - he hath smitten my life down to the ground;
The Darkness - he hath made me to dwell in darkness,
The Death - as those that have been long dead.
It's Pitiful -
4 Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.
It's Profitable -
His Past Meditation - 5 I remember the days of old;
His Present Motivation - I meditate on all thy works;
His Promised Mediation - I muse on the work of thy hands.
It's Purposeful -
The Act - 6 I stretch forth my hands unto thee:
The Aim - my soul thirsteth after thee,
The Ask - as a thirsty land. Selah.
2. David's Resolve -
To Be Heard -
It's Emergency - 7 Hear me speedily, O Lord:
It's Expediency - my spirit faileth:
It's Expectancy - hide not thy face from me,
It's Efficiency - lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.
To Be Helped -
It's Timing - 8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning;
It's Trust - for in thee do I trust:
It's Training - cause me to know the way wherein I should walk;
It's Truth - for I lift up my soul unto thee.
To Be Hidden -
9 Deliver me, O Lord, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.
To Be Healed - Through -
The Will of God - 10 Teach me to do thy will;
The Wait on God - for thou art my God:
The Word from God - thy spirit is good;
The Way to God - lead me into the land of uprightness.
3. David's Reward -
Life - 11 Quicken me, O Lord, for thy name’s sake:
Lift - for thy righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble.
Law - 12 And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies,
Liberty - and destroy all them that afflict my soul:
Love - for I am thy servant.
Not just to be free, but to be freed by God Himself.
