Summary: Can one Christian make a difference?
“The Value Of One---Hedge Makers & Gap-Fillers”
*Can One Christian Make A Difference?
The Lord Thought So, Look at Ezekiel 22:23-31
“And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.”
Notice, The Lord is looking for someone to make a difference. Sometimes, to make a difference, you must be different…This is where most people decide not to get involved…See everyone wants to fit in, and no one wants to stand out too much…People like being in charge, but no one wants the responsibility or the repercussions of being a leader…
Notice 4 Groups That God Could Not Use!!!
Vs. 25-The Prophets---Can you name some prophets in the Bible? The fact that you can, tells me that prophets were known for taking a stand for the Lord…but not this group.
Vs. 26-The Priest—Can you name a priest in the Bible? The priest was to the carry out the law of God, and make sure that holy things stayed holy…but not this group.
Vs. 27-The Princes—Can you name a prince in the Bible? The princes were to be upright, caring and an example of godliness to the people…but not this group. These all should have been the “cream of the crop”—the best of the best! Yet, they were the worst of the worst…
Finally God looks to Vs. 29—The People—Can you name some famous (common) people in the Bible?
*Who Was The Person That God Could Not Find? "And I sought for a man among them..."
What is God looking for today? Should that interest us?
1. A person who’s social status had not restricted them…
(In other Words, whether you are a prince or a pauper, God wants to use you!)
2. A person who’s circumstances had not ruined them…(In other words, whether you are privileged or common, God can use you!)
3. A person who could resolve to build or make up the hedge…(One who had a desire to help)
4. A person who could see that the gap needed repair or someone to stand in the gap…(One who had a desire to make a difference)
