Understand and embrace God's desire for us to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him, as stated in Micah 6:8.
Good morning, church family! We've got a message today from the book of Micah, chapter 6, verse 8. It's all about God's heart for us, His people; His desire for us to love mercy, and His call for us to walk humbly with Him.
The verse reads,
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
It's like what our respected brother in Christ, John Hagee once said, "Happy are those whose self-centered lives have been crushed and reshaped by the Master's hand to be full of mercy."
Let's kick off today's sermon with a prayer:
Dear Lord, open our hearts to fully grasp the message You have for us today. Help us to understand Your desires for us, teach us to love mercy as You do, and guide us into a humble walk with You. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
Heaven's desire for humanity is a theme that is woven throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and it's encapsulated beautifully in Micah 6:8. This verse succinctly outlines what God requires of us, His creation. It's a simple, yet profound, call to action: to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God.
Justice: Justice, in the biblical sense, is not merely about punishment or retribution. It's about setting things right. It's about creating a world where everyone is treated fairly, where the weak and the vulnerable are protected, and where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive. This is the kind of justice that God desires for humanity. He wants us to be agents of justice in the world, to stand up for the oppressed, to fight against injustice, and to work towards a world that reflects His perfect justice.
Mercy: Mercy is at the heart of God's character. Throughout the Bible, we see God showing mercy to His people time and time again, even when they don't deserve it. He forgives their sins, He provides for their needs, and He showers them with His love. And He wants us to do the same. He wants us to love mercy, to be people who are quick to forgive, slow to anger, and always ready to show kindness and compassion to others.
Humility: To walk humbly with God is to acknowledge our dependence on Him, to recognize that we are not the center of the universe, and to submit to His will and His ways. It's about recognizing our limitations and our need for God. It's about being humble enough to admit when we're wrong, to ask for forgiveness, and to seek God's guidance in all things.
Not abstract concepts: They are practical, tangible actions that we can and should incorporate into our daily lives. They are the ways in which we can live out our faith, show our love for God, and make a positive impact in the world.
Understanding God's heart for us: God doesn't just require these things of us; He desires them for us. He knows that when we act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him, we are living in alignment with His design for us. We are living the abundant, fulfilling life that He wants for us.
Not a burdensome command: It's a loving invitation from a God who wants the best for us. It's a call to live in a way that reflects His character, His love, and His goodness. It's a call to be the people that He created us to be.
Loving mercy is not just about showing kindness or pity to those who are suffering, but it is about embodying a heart of compassion towards all people, particularly those who are in need or are less fortunate ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
