Healing? Yes Its "The Children’s Bread"

Matthew 15:21-28, NASB.

21. Jesus went away from there, and withdrew into the district of Tyre and Sidon.

22. And a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is cruelly demon-possessed.”

23. But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, “Send her away, because she keeps shouting at us.”

24. But He answered and said, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

25. But she came and began to bow down before Him, saying, “Lord, help me!”

26. And He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”

27. But she said, “Yes, Lord; but even the dogs feed on the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

28. Then Jesus said to her, “O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed at once.

How many of you remember the first prayer that you learned as a child?

God is great, God is good

Let us thank Him for our food

By His hands, we all are fed

Give us now our daily bread

Almost every kid who has ever went to church learned that prayer,

And everybody thinks it’s a cute little pray and it is that, but also there is much power in that prayer

But a vast majority never realize the significance of it, that the woman in this story realized even the crumbs from Gods daily bread has.

Bread comes in all shapes and sizes, colors, textures and flavors.

It is a staple in almost everyone’s diet on the planet.

Bread is a symbol of life, in His Word, God uses bread to illustrate more than just physical sustenance.

The Children’s Bread symbolizes;

*His provision,

*His healing,

*His Word, and His very Son and what He accomplished with the finished work of the cross, for every believer.

By His hands, we all are fed

Give us now our daily bread

Healing and everything that was promised from the cross, is summed up in those 2 lines from the prayer of children.

And even though no matter how old we may become, we are all still Gods children no matter what age we are!

And aren’t you glad your a child of the King today!

The woman in this story had determination, she was a Canaanite,

she was a "gentile," a woman outside the covenant of God.

They were looked down upon by the Jews of her day, commonly referred to, as mere "dogs."

But she wasn’t concerned with what anyone thought of her that day,

she was on a mission, seeking help for her daughter and that took precedence over everything else.

She had been to all of the doctors, they had run all the tests, they all had nothing to offer her, she had done all she could do, she was desperate,

she had watched the agony day after day, month after month, the oppression was heavy, something had to be done now, it couldn’t wait any longer.

She had heard no doubt of the countless miracles that Jesus had done for so many,

Wherever He went, He turned all expectations from hopeless to hopeful, life seemed to effortlessly flow from Him,

as impossible and hopeless situations were turned around, time and time again.

Yes, she had heard the stories and of His great compassion, and as if her prayer had come true,

I believe it was no coincidence, here He was in her own home town, and she believed and if that wouldn’t have been the case, we wouldn’t be telling her story today, that was the key.

It didn’t matter how many miracles she had heard about, they didn’’t affect her and her daughters situation,

Until she started to believe that what He had done for so many others, He could do for her, as well.

Something began to well up on the inside of her, hope had sprouted and her faith began to rise and caused her to take action that day.

The moment she realized it wasn’t about what she could do any longer and became about what only Jesus could do for her,

Was the moment Jesus started to move and work behind the scenes on her behalf and meet her where she was, because of her faith.

It was a divine appointment about to take place, He was passing through her town, unmerited favor and grace was about to walk down her street!

When you take a step towards Jesus, He’ll take 2 steps towards you

With a step of boldness, she forgot about who she was, it wasn’t about her anymore,
