Summary: Today many fathers have children that they have abandoned due to divorce or other situations. We always talk about the fathers who left; however, we don't celebrate the fathers who stayed. They stayed in spite of the situation they were facng.
The biggest crisis we have today is that children are not being raised by Fathers.
Globally, one-quarter to one-third of all families are headed by single mothers. The United States has the highest.
Where are the fathers?
Due to this trend, I believe we have many boys and girls growing up without example of how to be a father. They think that having a baby makes you a father. Know we have many donors today!
I am not here today to bash the men who are not being Father’s but to honor the ones who have stayed. The ones who have stepped up to be Father’s in someone’s life. I want to say thanks for staying through the tough times
Testimony: My father died when I was wrong. God sent me another father. My view of God was not messed up because of this.
Let’s talk about the points of good father’s:
1. A good father will serve the Lord.
Joshua 24:15
But if you are unwilling to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD."
Where are the “family fathers” like Joshua? Today, we have father who are unwilling to change to get back to the family structure set up by the Lord in the beginning.
Fatherhood is not talked, it is lived. (Men, take your kids to work so that can see you work)
In order to see a change father must develop the qualities as Joshua had:
• A servants attitude – most father want to be served – I’m the boss
• Spiritual vision – ability to see what God sees
• Able to command respect – caused others to serve God
• Courageous of heart – loved God above the lust of the flesh or the fear of father
2. A good Father must have courage.
Courage is the requirements of leadership. The church of today has failed to inspire, or require, courage in its father. Many pastors preach to women, organize women, and work with women with less effort on the man.
We need programs in churches to show men how to be fathers.
Courage is the virtue, quality, or attribute of life than enables a man to face disapproval, persecution, fear, failure, and even death with a real manliness.
It takes courage to face reality. It takes courage to be a man.
Truth, honor, integrity and other marks of a man require change. Or love.
Courage is necessary to change the thinking today about fatherhood.
Fatherhood is not just having babies but having courage to stick it out for your children and be an example in the hard times.
3. A good father has character and integrity.
Character and integrity is that you do the right thing when no one is looking. You can catch people on tape lying and they will say that wasn’t me.
If he fathered the child, he will take the responsibility to take care of the child and not be forced to do it. It’s his obligation to take care of what he has sown into the earth realm.
The Bible says that father’s should not provoke their children to anger. I believe by not being a Godly man raising them to be Godly, our children our angry.
If you fathered the child, take responsibility and have character and integrity and step up to the plate.
CONCLUSION:
The solution of family problems today and the church and the nation must begin with the male seed.
Many women are assuming leadership of the church, home and nation because of necessity.
Women – let up on the fathers! Fathers will never come to the Lord until we see them as leaders. Start raising our boys and girls instead of just loving them. Stop putting pressure on father – they are not spiritual coverings over their families but a natural covering who when serve the family naturally because he is led by God, then the whole family will follow God.
Yes fathers, you have weaknesses, but rise to the challenge that you are going to be a family man. The nations are crying for father; women and children are crying for father.
