Isn’t God good?

- When you think you have it all figured out, God shows up and just touches you with a wonderful reminder of who God is.

Isaiah 55:1 “Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.”

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

- Salvation is forever. Vs. 3

Don’t ever neglect an opportunity to tell others of the love of our Saviour.

Our meet of the word for this morning is found in one verse.

How arrogant we are, to think that we don’t need a reminder of this wonderful verse this morning.

But the truth is we need to be reminded of where we were and where Jesus brought me from to where I am today.

Let’s dissect this together.

I. Let the wicked forsake his way…

Vs. 7

Strong’s Says:

AV-wicked, ungodly, wicked man

1) wicked, criminal

1a) guilty one, one guilty of crime

1.

1b) wicked (hostile to God)

1c) wicked, guilty of sin (against God or man)

Webster says -Wicked “Morally wrong or bad, or mischief…

a. The truth is we are all wicked.

Rom. 3:10

b. Our heart is wicked.

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

c. Without God’s Grace we would all stand before God condemned to an eternity separated from God and well aware of real torment.

II. “…The unrighteous his thoughts.”

Strong’s says- unrighteous = AV- iniquity, wicked(ness), vanity, affliction, mischief, unrighteous, evil, false, idol, mourners, mourning, sorrow, unjust, vain:

1) trouble, wickedness, sorrow

1a) trouble, sorrow

1b) idolatry

1c) trouble of iniquity, wickedness

Webster says:

Wicked; sinfull, not right; unjust; unfair

In the thought life is where our battles rage on day after day.

Some days are good with many victories and other days with many defeats.

a. The real battle in the thought life is also the first step to a life of backsliding.

2.

Example of the thought of man compared to God:

John 5: 21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? 22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?

III. “…Let him return unto the LORD”

AV-return, turn ...back, ...away, restore, bring, render, answer, recompense, recover, deliver, put, withdraw:

1) to return, turn back

1a) (Qal)

1a1) to turn back, return

1a1a) to turn back

1a1b) to return, come or go back

1a1c) to return unto, go back, come back

a. This is not a call to the lost to come to God but rather the backslidden repent.

IV. “…He will have mercy”

Romans 9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

Exodus 33:19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.

Guilty: with no reason not to be condemned.

Speeding and I got pulled over. GUILTY!!

But the officer showed mercy.

20 mph over is 4 pts and $100.00 fine

3.

V. “…For He will Abundantly Pardon.”

Abundantly - AV-multiply, increase, much, many, more, great, long, store, exceedingly, abundance:

1) be or become great, be or become many, be or become much, be or become numerous

1a) to become many, become numerous, multiply (of people, animals, things)

1a2) to be or grow great

1b) to make large, enlarge, increase, become many

Pardon- AV-forgive, forgiven, pardon, spare;

1) to forgive, pardon

1a) to forgive, pardon

1b) to be forgiven

Illustration: Get a teen to sit down and start stacking song books on his lap.

The lap is empty and you say I have sinned and need forgiveness. Place one book on his lap. Book represents forgiveness

Then say: But lord I still don’t feel like I have forgiveness. Now stack them high.

Ask; Do you feel the forgiveness now?

Conclusion:

If God is willing to abundantly forgive why do we not go to him and ask for his forgiveness over and over?

Do we fear that He may not forgive!!!

Or is it just we don’t want to give up our lifestyle?

God has heard it before… Then tell Him again.

Quit living defeated.
