Emphasizes the unchanging nature of God, His steadfast love, and the hope found in His constancy amidst our ever-changing world.
Welcome, beloved family of God. As we gather together today, let us take a moment to pause, to breathe, to find solace in the shared fellowship of our faith. We are united here, not because we are perfect, but because we serve a perfect God. His love for us is unchanging, His word is steadfast, and His promises are unshakeable. This is the God we serve, the God we worship, the God we love.
In our world today, change seems to be the only constant. We see it in the shifting seasons, the rising and setting of the sun, the ebb and flow of the tides. We see it in our lives as well, as we grow, as we learn, as we experience the joys and sorrows of life. Change is a part of our human existence. But isn't it comforting to know that amidst this ever-changing world, we serve a never-changing God?
When we talk about the constancy of our Heavenly Father, we're talking about a God who is steadfast. His character does not waver. His promises do not falter. His love does not diminish. This is a God who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. This constancy is not just about His unchanging nature. It's also about His faithfulness to us. He is a God who keeps His promises. He is a God who is always there for us, even when we are not there for Him. He is a God who loves us unconditionally, even when we are unlovable.
The book of Hebrews: Here, the writer tells us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. This is a powerful statement about the constancy of our God. It tells us that our God is not influenced by the changing times or the shifting cultures. He does not change His mind or His plans. He is the same God who created the universe, who parted the Red Sea, who raised Jesus from the dead. And He is the same God who loves us, who cares for us, who saves us.
The book of Malachi: God says, "For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed." This verse not only affirms the constancy of our God, but it also gives us a reason to be grateful. Because God does not change, we are not consumed. Because He is faithful, we are saved. Because He is constant, we are secure.
