Encourage believers to trust in God's sovereignty, cast all their anxieties on Him, and resist the devil, knowing that God will restore and strengthen them after their sufferings.
Good morning, family! You know, as we walk this journey of life, there are times when we may feel overwhelmed by the pressures and uncertainties around us. But in those moments, our God does not leave us without a word of comfort and encouragement.
In the words of A.W. Tozer, "An infinite God can give all of Himself to each of His children. He does not distribute Himself that each may have a part, but to each one He gives all of Himself as fully as if there were no others".
So today, we're going to dive into 1 Peter 5:6-10, where the Lord reminds us of His sovereignty, His care for us, and His unending love. The scripture reads:
"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast."
Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word that reminds us of Your sovereign power. We acknowledge that You alone are God and there is none like You. As we delve into Your Word today, open our hearts and minds to trust in Your sovereignty, to lean on Your care, and to draw strength from Your love. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
Now let's get into the Word, shall we?
Trusting in God's sovereignty is the unwavering belief that God is in control of every situation, no matter how chaotic or uncertain it may seem. This trust is not built overnight; it is a journey of faith that grows and deepens as we experience God's faithfulness in our lives.
Verse 6: "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time." This verse calls us to submit to God's authority, acknowledging that He is the supreme ruler over everything. It's a call to recognize that our human understanding is limited, and that God's ways and thoughts are higher than ours.
Surrendering our will to His: We are saying, "Lord, not my will, but Yours be done." This is not a sign of weakness, but rather a demonstration of our trust in His sovereignty. It's a declaration that we believe God knows what's best for us, and that His plans for us are good.
Believing that He is in control of our circumstances: The world may be filled with turmoil and uncertainty, but we can rest assured knowing that our God is not taken by surprise. He is not shocked or overwhelmed by the things that happen in our lives or in the world around us. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. He sees the end from the beginning, and He has a perfect plan for each of us.
Brings peace and stability in the midst of life's storms: It allows us to face trials with courage, knowing that our God is with us and for us. It gives us hope in times of despair, knowing that our God is working all things together for our good. It enables us to stand firm in faith, knowing that our God will never leave us nor forsake us.
We will face challenges and difficulties: As the scripture says, "Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." We live in a fallen world, and we will face trials and tribulations. But the scripture also assures us that after we have suffered a little while, the God of all grace will Himself restore us and make us strong, firm and steadfast. This is the promise of our sovereign God.
Cast all our anxiety on Him because He cares for us: This is a powerful statement of God's love and concern for us ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
