He Came to Do God’s Will

Hebrews 10.7-10

Introduction:

Now: The subject of obedience seems brings an inner turmoil to young people and hearty amens to the lips of older folks. The older folks will regale us with 'how it was in the good ole days.' It seems that most folks today want to do just enough to get by, or just enough to get them ahead of the next guy, but not enough to please a righteous and just God.

Then: Let me introduce the sermon today with the Biblical narrative of Saul and Samuel. Samuel was a fiery prophet of God that did not appreciate the bleating of sheep in his ears. That was the sound of disobedience and total disregard for the word of God and the messenger of God. Samuel was angry with the king of Israel and he had every right to be! Saul had transgressed the law of God and would be rejected as king. Samuel would remain as one the most respected and feared men of God to ever walk the face of the earth. King Saul was reject for disobedience.

Always! God has not changed! Men have changed. If we want to be in the center of God's perfect will, we will get there through obedience and no other way.

Thesis: It should be the desire of every Christian to emulate Christ in his obedient compliance to God’s will.
