Having Faith in God’s unchanging word.
Good Morning
Stand with me and lift your bible and repeat after me.
This is my Bible.
I am what it says I am.
I can do what it says I can do.
I am going to learn how to be what it says I can be.
Today I will learn more of the word of God.
The indestructible, never ending, living word Of God.
I will never be the same.
I will never be the same.
In Jesus Name
Amen?
Before you sit down, say good morning to your brothers and sisters.
Today’s message is about having Faith in God’s Unchanging Word
God’s Word is a steady foundation in a world where values and beliefs constantly shift.
In today’s world, beliefs, values, and even definitions of right and wrong change rapidly. What was once certain feels uncertain; what was once firm seems to be falling apart. Many people feel lost, looking for something they can rely on that doesn’t change with the times.
But as Christians, we have an unshakable foundation: God’s Word.
Today, we’ll dive into how God’s Word is our unchanging foundation, able to guide us, strengthen us, and give us hope no matter what the world throws our way.
Turn to 2nd Timothy in your Bible and say, “Amen” when you are there.
1: The Authority and Power of God’s Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
The Divine Origin of Scripture: The Bible isn’t just a historical book or a collection of wise sayings; it’s “God-breathed.” Every word carries God’s authority and reflects His heart and will for humanity.
- Scripture as a Guide for Life: Because God inspired His Word, it serves as a perfect guide for our lives. It teaches us what is true, corrects us when we’re wrong, and equips us to live in ways that honor Him.
- Thoroughly Equipped: God’s Word gives us everything we need to face life’s challenges. When we rely on Scripture, we are not relying on human wisdom but on divine truth that never fails.
Application: Make Scripture the foundation of your life. Just as a soldier prepares for battle, equip yourself with God’s Word every day. The Bible isn’t just for Sunday mornings; it’s meant to shape our decisions, attitudes, and values every day.
2: God’s Word as an Anchor in a Changing World (Hebrews 4:12)
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
- Alive and Active: Unlike any other book, God’s Word is alive. It speaks directly to our hearts and minds, bringing comfort, conviction, guidance, and strength.
- A Mirror to Our Souls: The Bible reveals our deepest thoughts and attitudes. As we read it, we find that it reads us, showing us where we need to change and helping us become more like Jesus.
- Our Unchanging Anchor: When the world shifts and changes, God’s Word remains constant. It grounds us, giving us clarity, wisdom, and stability in a world of confusion and chaos.
Application: Anchor yourself in Scripture, especially during challenging times. When you feel confused, turn to God’s Word for clarity. When you’re struggling with doubt, find strength in His promises.
Point 3: The Transforming Power of God’s Word
Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)
- The Power to Change Our Minds: In a world that constantly pushes us to conform, God’s Word renews and transforms our minds. When we meditate and study on Scripture, we’re not just learning facts; we’re allowing God to shape our values, attitudes, and even desires.
- Growing into Christlikeness: Scripture reveals who we are and who God wants us to be. As we internalize God’s truth, our lives begin to reflect Jesus more and more.
- Walking in Wisdom and Truth: Instead of being swayed by the latest trends or ideologies, a life rooted in Scripture allows us to live wisely, loving others and bringing glory to God.
Be intentional about letting God’s Word shape you. Study it, memorize it, and meditate on it.
The more time you spend in Scripture, the more it will renew your mind and guide your decisions, helping you live a life that pleases God.
Point 4: Practically Living Out Our Faith Through God’s Word
- Daily Reading and Meditation: Encourage the congregation to set aside time each day to read and reflect on Scripture. This doesn’t have to be hours at a time; even a few minutes in God’s Word can make a profound difference.
