1st Corinthians 16: 9 For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.

New Year brings many opportunities.

The Christian has source of joy and supply.

The Messiah came as he said.

By his life he healed and helped a number of people.

His death paid for our sin’s he over came death.

In his ascension left a promise of return.

If you have Christ you should have happiness.

(1) Happy through fellowship.

(1) Fellowship with Christ.

1st John 1: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

His blood cleanses us from all sin.

(2) Fellowship with Christians.

Psalms 133:1 (A Song of degrees of David.) Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;

3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

(3) Fellowship through the Church.

Psalms 122: 1 (A Song of degrees of David.) I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.

And important part of this is church attendance.

Hebrews 10:

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

(4) We need to start fighting.

Ephesians 6: 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Fight sin. The love of many people. 1Timothy 4:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;

2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

Fight slackness. The love of sin make people slack and indifferent.

Matthew 24: 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Fight sensuality . Satan will tempt you.

1st Corinthians 10: 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Fight slothfulness. There is no excuse for laziness.

Romans 12: 11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

New Year to follow Christ.

Follow the call.

Matthew 4: 19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Follow the command.

Matthew 22: 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

Follow the commission.

John 15: 16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Follow God’s character.

1st Peter 1: 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
