BIG IDEA: The Torah, the WORD of GOD, points to Yeshua (JESUS) as the ultimate Way, Truth, and Life, and our joy in GOD’s WORD is fulfilled in HIM.
HAPPY SIMCHAT TORAH!
Today is Simchat Torah, the Joy of the Torah. A day of celebration where the Jewish people give thanks to GOD for the precious gift of HIS WORD.
...If they only knew that the WORD they joyfully celebrate is the Messiah, Yeshua (JESUS).
John 1:1, 14 "In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with GOD, and the WORD was GOD. ... and the WORD became flesh and made His dwelling among us."
Throughout the Tanakh (Old Testament), GOD’s WORD in the Torah (the first five books of Moses), is shown to be everything we need to live righteously and with abundant life.
The Torah (the WORD) is the WAY
Exodus 18:20 Teach them the statutes and the laws [Torah], and make known to them the way in which they are to walk and the work they are to do.
Psalms 119:1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the Lord!
The Torah (the WORD) is TRUTH
Psalm 119:142 Your righteousness is everlasting and your law [Torah] is true.
The Torah (the WORD) is LIFE
Proverbs 13:14 The teaching [Torah] of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death.
Psalms 119:1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk [Live] in the law of the Lord!
The Torah is Yeshua (JESUS)!
John 14:6 I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the FATHER except through Me.
In fact, whenever Yeshua refers to Himself as "I," we could understand it as "Torah," because they are one, just as the FATHER and Yeshua are one.
John 10:30 I [Torah] and the FATHER are one.
On this day of rejoicing, we can celebrate not only the gift of GOD’s WORD in the Torah but also the fulfillment of that WORD in Yeshua, JESUS CHRIST. HE IS our Way, our Truth, and our Life.
Celebrate the WORD today - the WORD made flesh!
Let’s Pray,
Heavenly FATHER, thank YOU for the gift of YOUR WORD. Thank YOU for revealing YOURSELF in YESHUA-JESUS, the living Torah. Open the eyes of the Jewish people to see Yeshua as the promised Messiah. Help us to walk in HIS Ways, embrace HIS Truth, and live in the abundant Life HE offers. Fill our hearts with joy in YOUR WORD today and always. In YESHUA-JESUS’ Name, Amen.
