The Habits of Heavens Heroes 3
Rom 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience [ cheerful / hopeful endurance] and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.
[Confident expectation]
Habit - A recurrent, often unconscious pattern of behavior that is acquired through frequent repetition
Abel
Heb 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
Gen 4
Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? Exalted / elevated and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
- difference was a blood sacrifice
- cain characters do realize that their destiny is determined by their own spirit character and level of worship.
Point # 1 – abel was a faithful man willing to give
NOAH
Gen 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Gen 6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
Gen 6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
Gen 6:8 But Noah found grace [ Khane favor]in the eyes of the LORD.
Gen 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just [ lawful / righteous] man and perfect [ balanced complete full] in his generations, and Noah walked with God. [ conversed tread all around continually]
Point 2 – noah walked w/ god sincerely was obedient patient faithful
120 yrs. Build
Abraham
Another man in a anti one god society willing to follow god even when it seems crazy
History says his family was rich and he left it behind he had it made the call of god priority number 1 in his life
- mistakes missteps and mishaps could not stop this man of faith
he was a faithful man
we see this in his traveling 3 days an old man climbing up a mountain and holding a knife to slay his son
we also see it in his banishing of ishmael and hagar
we see a man of concern for others for we read in gen 18 where Abraham interceded for Sodom and Gomorrah
Heb 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
Heb 11:9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
Heb 11:10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
Abraham because of his obedience to god and his faithfulness became a mighty and a powerful man of god
Jacob
No other character in our studies probably will portray any better the struggle between the flesh and the spirit than Jacob
We begin his story at the deceit and lie used to gain his brother esaus birthright and blessing
Why did he not just give his brother esau food ?
He was all about Jacob he was self centered and willing to hurt his family in order to gain for himself.
I think he probably inherited some of his sneakiness from his momma she was in on deceiveing his father for the laying on of hands and imparting generational blessing
What is our children gaining from us being with them ?
This man works for laban fro 21 years for his wife what a guy probably also what a girl
The probllmes this character causes is so bad he has to run for his life
But there is no doubt that any person in any situation even the worst of the worst when fellowshipping w/ god can be transformed
It was in an alone time it was in a time of prayer and wrestling w/ god that this man was changed from a liar and thief to a prince who has power w/ god and man
