Opening Scripture Reading – Let us turn to the Holy Scripture, John 13:34-35: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." These words, spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ, carry a simple yet powerful message. A message of love. A message of unity. A message of brotherhood.
G.K. Chesterton once said, "The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because generally they are the same people." This quote, humorous yet thought-provoking, reminds us of the importance of love in our faith. Love that is not selective. Love that is not conditional.
