Greater Works Than Jesus

GREATER WORKS THAN THESE SHALL YOU DO

JOHN 14: 12-16

You say how can this be? Jesus walked on water – Jesus raised the dead. Jesus did many miracles! How can we do greater works than Jesus?

V. 12 – “THE WORKS THAT I DO” What work did Jesus come to do? Lk. 19:10 – For the son of man is come to seek and save that which was lost.

Jesus did many miracles – He is the great physician, He is the great teacher, He is the great supplier - But the greatest thing that Jesus came to do is save the lost!

Jesus is talking about reaching people to Jesus! Winning a soul is better that raising someone from the dead – If you did raise someone from the dead they would die again – but when you lead a person to Jesus, they will never die. “We can’t all be preachers but we can all be reachers!”

Jesus is not talking about quality – He is talking about quanity! Jesus would say my job was to save the lost – Now you can go and win more than I did!

After Pentecost – The coming of the Holy Spirit – Acts 2:41 – 3,000 souls were saved – In Acts 4:4 5,000 souls were saved! --- This was more souls that Jesus won in his whole life time!

IN ORDER FOR ROCK FALLS TO DO GREATER WORKS – WE MUST KNOW OUR PURPOSE! OUR PURPOSE IS TO WIN SOULS!

Vs. 13,14 - THE PROMISE - And how do we get this promise – BY PRAYER! PRAYER IS OUR GREATER WORK! When we work, we work – But when we pray God works!

3 ways to pray:

Right Person – “He that believeth on me” Right Power – In my name, The right authority – The right signature gives the check the authority! Like a police, knocks at the door and says let me in, in the name of the law! It is the authority! Now if he comes to your house and says give me one hundred dollars in the name of the law, he is out of his authority. Right purpose – “that the Father may be glorified”

GREATER WORKS ARE DONE THROUGH PRAYER

V. 15 – THE PRACTICE – KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. What are the two commandments on which hang all the law? Mt. 22: 36-40! - Love God – Love Others! God first, others second!

YOU CAN NEVER DO GREATER WORKS IF YOU DO NOT LOVE GOD FIRST AND FORMOST AND LOVE OTHERS AS YOURSELF.

V. 16 – THE POWER – THE COMFORTER! Comforter means – To come along side!

Note Another Comforter - Jesus is saying I will come along side with the comforter and be with you! I will provide you the personal power along side the Holy Spirit to help you to do greater works than I did!

Note last part of V.12 – “I go to my Father” - When Jesus was on earth He was limited but now in heaven – Well let the hallelujah roll!

THE CHURCH IS THE VISIBLE BODY OF THE INVISIBLE CHRIST!

*MY DESIRE FOR ROCK FALLS CHURCH IS TO SEE IT BE OBEDIENT AND GOD LOOK DOWN FROM HEAVEN AND SAY THEY ARE DOING GREATER WORKS THAN MY SON DID!
