Great Help for the Godly Man
Study Text: Psalm 37:23-24
Introduction:
This scriptural portion provides reassurance and encouragement to those who trust in God and live according to His will.
There is great help from the Lord to sustain their lives and to assist them at every point of their needs.
There are three categories of help promised by God for the benefit of the godly man:
1. The Help of Divine Involvement
2. The Help of Divine Interest
3. The Help of Divine Intervention
1. The Help of Divine Involvement:
The verse begins by highlighting that the steps of a godly man will be ordered by God.
This means that their life's journey and direction, are established by the Lord.
It emphasizes that God is intimately involved in the path of the believer, guiding and directing their steps.
This speaks to God's care and concern for His people and His active involvement in their lives at every beginning of their life.
This divine involvement is specifically assured to those that trust God with all their hearts and acknowledge Him in all their ways. Proverbs 3: 5 - 8
It is a great blessing if God is involved in every step you take, every decision you make and everything you do.
Nothing can go wrong if He is allowed to have His way from the beginning, and if anything appears to go wrong, He has the power to turn it around for your good. Romans 8:28
God is the beginning and the end, He is all-knowing, all-powerful and present everywhere. He knows what we do not know and sees what we do not see.
God's presence is always with us, and He is willing to guide and direct us as His children, but we must cooperate with Him and allow Him to be in control. Romans 8:14 - 15.
2. The Help of Divine Interest:
The verse continues by expressing that God delights in the way of those who trust in Him.
This suggests that when we align our lives with God's will and follow His commands, it brings joy and pleasure to Him.
It emphasizes the importance of living in accordance with God's principles and seeking His guidance in all aspects of life.
There are several implications of God taking delight in a man:
1. The Lord will make all necessary provisions available for you. Philippians 4:19
2. The Lord will take over your battles and grant you surpassing victory.
3. God will enjoy your fellowship and longs to have you around more often.
4. God will shield and defend you from all forms of evil. Isaiah 54:17
5. God will feel your pains and infirmities and will always work for your well-being. Hebrews 12:2
3. The Help of Divine Intervention:
The passage assures us that even when we stumble or face challenges along the way, we will not fall or be abandoned by God.
The Lord holds us up with His hand, providing protection, support, and strength.
This emphasizes God's loving care and His commitment to sustain us through difficult times.
There are several characteristics of Divine Intervention:
1. His Interventions are adequate and sufficient.
2. His Interventions are just in time. God can never come too late.
3. His Interventions are for the purpose of His glory and blessings of His people.
4. His Interventions are incomparable. There can't be a better alternative.
5. His Interventions can not be hidden or go unnoticed.
